Steven Johnston from 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season 3 is a cast member that franchise fans just aren't sure about, and it's time to talk about why viewers have their doubts. He may be a contender for the villain spot that Ariela Weinberg and Evelin Villegas keep competing for. Fans were excited to see new couples and fresh storylines on the 90 Day Fiancé spin-off, and Steven didn’t disappoint in episode 1. Fans sensed that something was off about Steven (but in a likable way) until Alina (last name currently unknown) revealed that he wanted to date other women. Moreover, Steven isn't a virgin, but he wants Alina to be one. This is because he hopes to convert her into his Mormon religion. It also looks like Steven is not ready to get married.
The Utah native Steven was called out for his hypocrisy and manipulation when he revealed his struggles with celibacy. At 25, Steven had met Alina, 21, on Interpals. They decided to meet in person in Prague for two weeks, with their moms for company. Alina from Novosibirsk and Steven dated for a year during the pandemic. They decided to stay in Turkey for three months until they could marry and get a visa that would allow Steven to come to Russia. While Alina was sacrificing her career for Steven, she was also living away from home. She expected Steven to stay with her in the same apartment in Turkey.
Alina, although doubtful of Steven, set up a honeytrap with her friend Masha before she left Russia. She then convinced her boyfriend to cancel his stay at the hostel and cohabit. Little did she know that Steven, who was afraid of having accidental sex with Alina, was hiding his own past mistakes behind his faith. Steven blamed Alina's attractiveness (which tempted him) when it was him who had no self-control.
Steven Welcomes Fans To The World Of Skoodilypoop
While Steven has come across as childish to viewers from the start, it was him using the "word" “skoodilypoop” to describe sexual intercourse that really raised eyebrows. Fans of the show just didn't like it. 90 Day Fiancé fans have joked about the “boom boom” and “jiggy jiggy” euphemisms used in the franchise for years. However, Steven’s "skoodilypoop" was cringe-worthy (and frankly weird). Steven hugged, kissed, and caressed Alina, but also claimed that he wanted to avoid temptation. The surest way to prevent Steven and Alina from getting physical could be saying "skoodilypoop” again and again. Considering Steven is 25, with a dark past of his own, fans speculate that he's pretending to be immature to win Alina’s trust. This is why some fans find his behavior truly disturbing.
Steven Is A Walking Red Flag
With each episode of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, Steven keeps showing more layers of his personality. Viewers predict that Alina will spend a lifetime dealing with the consequences of his uncontrolled urges. At this point, red might be Alina’s least favorite color, since she seems to have shielded her eyes from all of Steven’s red flags, including controlling behavior and creepiness. Being assertive helped Alina to stop Steven from staying in a hostel and hooking up with other girls. However, adventurous 90DF star Steven isn’t ready to propose to Alina. He likely wanted to use the 90 days in Turkey just to have fun. If Steven wasn’t able to control himself and keep his hormones in check, why did he suggest that Alina should move to a different country?
Steven Gives Fans Second-Hand Embarrassment
Fans have started to think that Steven and Alina are not on the same page, and her getting baptized may not help. After all, Steven hasn’t been able to commit to the faith that he’s preaching to Alina. His antics are being questioned by fans who wonder if he’s ever interacted with women before this. They wonder if the whole virginity shebang is just a manufactured 90 Day Fiancé storyline. Steven’s social cues are absurd, from excusing himself at the dinner table to pass gas to making jokes about selling organs. Then again, many fans also think that Steven is acting impulsively to get attention. When he jumped into the pool fully clothed, Alina may have thought it was cute, as she stood there smiling. However, most viewers thought it was off-putting and over the top. They thought she should pack up and leave. They may have a point.
