Nikki and Mark appeared on season three of 90 Day Fiance and they have all but disappeared from the spotlight. After their failed attempt at suing TLC for their portrayal, the couple seemed to step away from the light. The pair, however, hasn’t disappeared from conversations in 90 Day Fiance fan circles.

Mark Shoemaker didn’t make the best first impression when he picked up Nikki from the airport. Right off the bat, viewers noted the way he treated his much-younger bride like a child. He told her not to touch the windows as they would leave fingerprints. Imagine, telling your soon-to-be wife not to touch the window as if she were a child? Well, considering Nikki was 19 years old and young enough to be one of his four children, it’s no surprise he spoke to her in that manner. An odd part of their relationship was the fact that he met his first wife in Cebu City, Philippines, and after she left him alone to raise their children, Mark went back to Cebu City and met Nikki and they fell in love. Was this history repeating itself? Probably. Throughout the show, Mark said constantly that he hadn’t planned on raising four children alone and that wasn’t how he saw his life going. So viewers thought it was a bit odd that he would find a woman who came from the same place as his ex-wife.

A point of tension when they were on the show was the fact that Mark told Nikki to sign a prenup, which she didn’t understand. Again, due to his past, Mark felt the need to protect himself much to the detriment of Nikki’s future wellbeing if they did get divorced. However, all signs point to them still being together, although they don’t have a social media presence between them. The last time Nikki posted anything on social media was in 2013.

One major point, which made fans reel, was the fact that they had a 39-year-old age gap. Another huge point was the fact that Mark didn’t want any more kids yet Nikki hadn’t decided. The creepiest part of their relationship was the fact that Mark still had photos of his ex-wife in his house and he bought Nikki the same car he bought his ex-wife. On Twitter, a page held a vote asking who was the creepiest person on 90 Day Fiance and although Mark was beaten out of the top spot by Danielle, he came out in second place. One Twitter user didn’t agree with the ranking and commented, “I'm going to go with Mark Shoemaker. His feminine voice, hairy arms, 1980's wardrobe, combover, his condescending tone, his many lawsuits including one against TLC.

Mark has seemed to add the creepiness of their relationship, as that seems to be the consensus amongst fans. It’s difficult to keep up with them considering they don’t update their social media, but no divorce has been filed in Maryland. All things considered, they are likely fine and still married.
