If there’s one word that can be used to describe Nicole Nafziger and Azan Tefou’s relationship on 90 Day Fiancé, it’s - rollercoaster. The long-distance lovers first starred in 90 Day Fiancé season 4 and had such an interesting storyline that they got three consecutive seasons afterward. TLC fans saw Nicole meeting Azan for the first time in Morocco, and nothing’s been the same ever since. From cheating scandals to incidents of body shaming, to cultural clashes to complications with Azan’s visa, Nicole has seen plenty of highs and lows throughout their reality-TV romance. Here’s a quick refresher of Nicole and Azan’s road bumps, before 90 Day Fiancé viewers see them reappear in any upcoming seasons.

So far, Nicole, 26, and Azan, 29, have appeared on season 4 of 90 Day Fiancé, and also returned for season 5 and seasons 3 and 4 of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?. The Bradenton, Florida, resident and single mom was just 21 when she’d met 23-year-old Azan AKA Hassan M'Raouni from Agadir, Morocco. Nicole leaving her toddler May behind with her family when she flew to Morocco was a major issue for TLC viewers and still continues to be. Upon seeing Nicole, who seemed completely smitten by him for the first time, Azan, a fitness trainer commented that she was “big…a little bit.” While the TLC star promised she’d lose weight, Azan caught her hoarding sweets! PDA too, became a bone of contention between the couple when Nicole kept trying to hug and kiss him, but an annoyed Azan insisted that it was unacceptable in his culture. Apart from the cultural differences creeping in, it was conversion that also caused drama for Nicole who refused to convert to Islam and Azan who didn’t want to embrace Christianity. Still, Azan proposed to Nicole who flew back to America anticipating him becoming her 90 Day Fiancé and coming over on a K-1 visa. But that’s another controversy that engulfed the TLC twosome.

The Moroccan man had apparently overstayed a visa while visiting a previous girlfriend which made the U.S. apparently deny his request. As per InTouch, news of Azan having multiple girlfriends in other countries like Spain, South Korea, Japan, and England, and using Nicole for entry into the States spread like wildfire. However, his 90 Day Fiancé partner wasn’t in the clear either. Nicole had reportedly admitted to cheating on Azan before meeting him the first time, and there was alleged speculation of her taking her ring off and meeting a man during a night out with friends in America. 90 Day Fiancé fans believed that Nicole had said this to make Azan jealous but then again, there were reports about him having married his cousin when he was 19 with three kids, and her knowing about it the entire time! Soap Dirt had written about the $6,000 that Nicole gave to Azan under the pretense of opening a beauty store in Morocco. While Nicole, had admitted that the store didn’t even exist, the outlet had reported that the money “may have been as a dowry for Tefou to divorce his wife” as he was “unhappy” with the marriage. Therefore, Nicole’s parents supposedly stayed wary of Azan’s intentions, even though her mother Robbalee had mentioned that Azan was “adamant” about the claims being false.

Nicole, who by now had called off the wedding with Azan twice, famously flew to Morocco again in March this year, only to get stuck over there following the COVID-19 pandemic. The 90 Day Fiancé star who was working as a Starbucks barista prior to that, shared multiple selfies on her Instagram showing off her man. But Nicole’s return after five months also made her hint at a return to the reality show via a Q&A on Instagram. Apart from teasing her followers with this major news, it was Nicole indulging in click-bait articles to earn some extra bread is what angered them further. First, it was the TLC star teasing a baby number by posting a sonogram picture, and later denying it by saying that “No, I’m not pregnant.” Then it was her sharing a story and post with “#RIP” and a picture of her and Azan that made fans think the Moroccan man was dead.

Nicole denied the story again by claiming it was a miscommunication, but she did admit to doing click-bait which urged followers to believe that Azan was indeed deceased and it was her operating his on-off Instagram account. Looking at how things are progressing in Nicole and Azan’s relationship, there seems to be enough drama for the pair to indeed get more stints on the reality show. But while their 90 Day Fiancé story slowly extends into 90 Year Fiancé territory, could fans slowly start losing interest in the pair too?
