Welcome home baby,” shouted an excited Mike Youngquist on 90 Day Fiancé season 8, as he brought his bride-to-be Natalie Mordovtseva to his farm. Soon enough, the cameras saw Natalie confessing that she thought the house looked like one from the movies… “horror movies.” As 90 Day Fiancé’s Natalie entered the home, she began complaining about it being “very small” and “very cold.” Her statement baffled many TLC viewers since Natalie hails from Ukraine, which is known for its snowy winters. Fans want to know if Mike’s Washington home is colder than Natalie’s Kyiv.

Fans of 90 Day Fiancé have been used to getting cold vibes from Natalie ever since her introduction on season 7. Once Natalie landed in America, after having almost called things off with Mike, he did treat her like a queen. On her first night in Washington, he rented a fancy apartment overlooking the Seattle waterfront. However, it soon dawned upon 90 Day Fiancé's Natalie that he didn't have her engagement ring and that she wouldn't be staying in the city forever. In spite of having kicked out Uncle Beau before even arriving, Natalie wasn’t impressed with Mike’s Sequim, WA farm. She first called it dirty. Next, she called it small. Then, she said it was uncomfortable. Lastly, she called the house cold. The remark about the home being cold is one that she has repeated on 90 Day Fiancé multiple times. “I cannot get used to this cold, oh my god,” exclaimed the TLC star, adding that she can’t adjust used to staying in America as it’s “constantly cold.” The 90 Day Fiancé star revealed that it’s a pity she changed countries and came to “really cold weather.” While Mike added that was cold as it’s “unfortunately, wintertime,” fans couldn’t help but wonder why she’s so bothered. After all, winters in Natalie’s Ukraine are just as harsh, if not more so.

According to WeatherSpark, Kyiv has winters that are long, freezing, dry, windy, and mostly cloudy. The “cold season” in Natalie’s city, where she used to live with her mother, lasts for roughly 3.8 months, from November 18 to March 12. The average daily high temperature falls below 39°F. The coldest day of the year for Natalie’s Kyiv happens to be February 3, with an average “low of 20°F and high of 30°F.”

As correctly deduced by 90 Day Fiancé’s smart viewers, Mike’s Sequim city in Clallam County, Washington, also has winters that coincide with Natalie’s, starting from November 14 to March 8. The cool season in Sequim lasts for 3.8 months and has an average daily high temperature below 50°F, which is a shocking 11°F higher than Kyiv. The coldest day for 90 Day Fiancé's Mike’s city is January 1, with an average “low of 37°F and high of 44°F.”

Mike Youngquist and Natalie Podiakova sit, looking upset, in 90 Day Fiancé

In a Reddit post, a 90 Day Fiancé fan points out the same fact by posting, “Natalie. I’m pretty sure Ukraine is usually colder than Washington state.” Another TLC viewer in the comments explains why Natalie could be feeling the chill in Sequim. “Cold countries have good insulation and heating. I’m from Poland and I spent the worst winter ever when living in Spain with no heat,” adds the fan. But another one also comments, “I think Mike was being cheap with the heat. There is nothing fun about a cold house,” suggesting that the 90 Day Fiancé star’s house is not well insulated, due to him cutting corners. However Mike’s house is supposed to be modular, basically a “trailer home on a solid foundation” which in all likelihood is not capable of “retaining heat or remaining comfortable” as a 90 Day Fiancé viewer explains. See a temperature comparison below:

Natalie said on 90 Day Fiancé that Mike has not tried his best to make her feel at home, and she may see the fact that he hasn't turned up the heat in his house to match the warm central Soviet heating of her former apartment as the main reason. Viewers had seen Mike visit and stay over at Natalie’s house in the previous season, where he had the chance to learn about Natalie’s home temperature and food preferences. However, as certain 90 Day Fiancé fans believe, Natalie should just stop being overdramatic and put on a sweater, which she could have by now, considering she’s already married to Mike.
