Former 90 Day Fiancé star Mike Youngquist is being called out for touting Confederate flag décor at home in a scene with Natalie Mordovtseva. The 37-year-old Sequim man was introduced to TLC viewers in 90 Day Fiancé season 7 when he flew to Ukraine to meet his future wife Natalie. Mike and Natalie were incompatible on many levels, from food to religion, and even split at the end of the season. However, she still made it to the U.S. to unhappily live in his Sequim trailer until she walked out and moved to Florida within a few months.

Natalie started dating a man named Josh Weinstein but remained married to Mike, whom fans think she should go back to. However, Reddit user UnderDogC626 shared a picture of Mike with the Confederate flag design on a glass on a shelf behind him to remind fans that he doesn’t deserve their sympathy at all. They wrote that people are always getting on their case for not liking Mike. But every time they try to like him, they remember the scene from 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? season 6 episode 9.

The flag was likely supposed to be blurred by TLC but was mistakenly aired due to an editing mistake. “That really bothered me also. Anyone that has a confederate flag anything displayed in their home is not a good person,” wrote user poke-salad. “How, in 2022, can you still believe you're something better just for being born white????” asked whattodo9000. TLC viewer monkeyoscuras said the 90 Day Fiancé star was a Confederate flag owner who lets his mother attack his wife on his behalf, thinking about the time when Natalie was called a h***er by Trish Youngquist. A few fans do see Mike as a manipulative man who couldn’t defend his wife against his mother’s taunts and failed to communicate with Natalie, even when she begged him to several times.

There have been instances where fans thought Mike and his mom showed their problematic nature, whereas the edit made Natalie look like the problem. At one point, Trish told her son, “Send her a** back to the Ukraine,” which suggested her xenophobic way of thinking. Moreover, Mike engaged in toying around with Natalie’s feelings, such as him canceling their wedding on their wedding day or getting married to her when she had one day to stay in the U.S. on her K-1 visa. Natalie leaving Mike does make ample sense when one looks back at these things.

However, Natalie decided to still stay married to Mike. She won’t divorce him until Josh confirms their relationship by giving it a label. Fans think Natalie is not divorcing Mike yet as she’s waiting for her Green Card. She herself has revealed that she and Mike never stopped talking and 90 Day: The Single Life was far from the truth. While Natalie may have forgiven Mike for everything that happened between then, fans are not okay with the nasty side of Mike being revealed only when 90 Day Fiancé forgot to blur his belongings.
