While Mike Youngquist developed cold feet over marrying Natalie Mordovtseva in 90 Day Fiancé season 8, the Sequim resident was married once before. Mike’s Ukrainian co-star Natalie and him were both going through divorces when they met through mutual friends. But the private Mike hadn’t revealed much about his ex-wife, Kristen Danielle, apart from why she left him, during a season 7 confessional. However, throwback photos of 90 Day Fiancé star Mike and Kristen show that even he had a fairytale wedding just like the one Natalie had boasted of, in 2015.
With Mike breaking up with Natalie on their much-awaited wedding day, 90 Day Fiancé fans couldn’t help but wonder if it was something he’d planned all along. The episode did not show the fight that led to Mike refusing to go ahead with the wedding, and fans have assumed it was because he wanted to take revenge on Natalie for the way she’d treated him in Kyiv in season 7. But after voicing her unhappiness even through season 8, Natalie had finally felt satisfied when Mike returned the ring, even though her wedding plans not working out caused her emotional crisis.
The former Ukrainian actress revealed that her last wedding to her second ex-husband had been an expensive one, but she was still okay to go ahead with the “blue lagoon” one by Mike’s farm’s pond amid the pandemic. When the 90 Day Fiancé star had admitted this, TLC viewers had wondered if Mike was secretly happy about not having to spend a lot on Natalie’s fairytale wedding. She seemed to be happy with the bare minimum, despite which Mike had gone and crushed her heart. On the contrary, pictures from Mike’s first wedding six years ago, reveal a much happier affair, although his wedding to Kristen lasted barely for a year.
Instagram 90 Day Fiancé fan page 90DayTheMelanatedWay shared a photo from Mike’s wedding to Kristen, who he’d apparently met back in 2012 while she was working as a bartender. Then a Salinas, California, resident, Mike has seen his marriage end when his wife left him for another woman. A different photo on Mike’s own page has him standing tall amongst his best men, flashing a big grin, one that he rarely showed when with Natalie on 90 Day Fiancé. However, Mike had revealed that the way his marriage ended unexpectedly had left him lonely and heavier by 340 pounds. It was after 90 Day Fiancé star Mike started exercising and took on a healthy diet that he lost some 80 pounds, and dated a couple of more people until he came across Natalie at a friend’s daughter’s christening.
It could have been the COVID-19 situation that stopped Mike from giving Natalie the wedding of her dreams, but fans do wonder if the 90 Day Fiancé couple do resolve their differences, what the ceremony would look like. Given the fact that Mike and Natalie show no sign of chemistry for each other, Uncle Beau’s claims about her leaving him within a year of marriage could come true. But in the volatile world of 90 Day Fiancé, Mike and Natalie might just end up rekindling their romance to shock the world.
