Memphis has been very wary of Hamza getting a hold of her finances if their relationship goes south. For this reason, she demanded a prenup agreement before marriage. However, Memphis failed to have the prenup agreement in order and ended up being shocked when she realized she couldn’t get one in a single day. Memphis stated that she wants to protect her assets, as she is considering purchasing a house. However, many viewers have accused her of misunderstanding the agreement since it would not protect assets that either half of the couple acquired during their marriage. Therefore, any future home purchase during the marriage would also likely half belong to Hamza.
It appears that Memphis is confused about more than just how a prenup agreement works. Though she is adamant about not sharing any of her finances with Hamza, Reddit user compoundluck brought up an important point about an American sponsoring a foreign spouse. “Should we tell Memphis that she is financially responsible for 10 years for an immigrant ex-spouse?“ the user wrote. As many 90 Day Fiancé fans are aware, when an American agrees to marry and support an immigrant spouse, they sign USCIS Form I-864. This creates a financial obligation for the American spouse to support their foreign partner. This support does not end at divorce, which means that Memphis will likely continue to be financially responsible for Hamza if they divorced but he remained in the country.
Many Reddit users called out Memphis for her lack of understanding about the immigration process and her obligations to Hamza. “I find it ridiculous that she went to Tunisia with the express purpose of marrying him, got mad at him for not arranging things for them to get their marriage license, but calls a lawyer about a prenup a couple of days before she’s supposed to get married?!” one incredulous user wrote.
