The American mother insists on having a contract in place to protect her assets from her Tunisian partner in case they divorce. However, 90 Day Fiancé franchise fans are confused about what assets Memphis is intent on protecting.
When Memphis arrived in Tunisia, she made it clear that she was eager to marry. Hamza expressed his concerns over a hasty marriage, given their issues. But Memphis told him that if he didn’t marry her during her two-week trip, then she would break up with him. This led to Hamza agreeing to marry her. However, Memphis was perplexed to discover that she couldn’t have a prenup in place on a day’s notice. She made it clear that having a prenup is extremely important to her, as she is intent on protecting her assets for her children. However, Before The 90 Day viewers are confused as to what assets Memphis wanted to protect given that she doesn't own a home.
Reddit user ScoobDoggyDoge shared a screenshot of Memphis explaining a prenup to Hamza by saying, “You can’t take any of my money or my assets, like my house.” The user wrote, “Memphis, you don’t own a house.” Many viewers were confused by what Memphis thought a prenup agreement did, as it protects existing assets but doesn’t include assets the couple would acquire during their marriage. Since Memphis does not yet have a house, Hamza would likely be entitled to half of the house she purchased during their marriage if they were to divorce. “Is she rich? Cause she[s] talking like she['s] rich,” one user questioned.
Many viewers were confused as to what exactly Memphis believes she is protecting. “Exactly what I was saying: YOU HAVE NO ASSETS,” one top commenter wrote. Other users accused Memphis of completely misunderstanding the prenup process since she thought she could obtain one on such a short notice. “Look, I get wanting a prenup and Memphis has every right to ensure her assets are safe, but based on her waiting TWO DAYS before her wedding to consult a lawyer...She doesn't know ****!” another user wrote. She has consistently talked down to Hamza and treats him in a disrespectful manner. Viewers are further perplexed as to why Memphis would want to support a foreign spouse since she clearly doesn’t want to share her finances with Hamza. However, the couple is also believed to share a child, according to some reports.
