Peruvian woman Mahogany’s journey on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days season 5 began when Michigan man Ben Rathbun decided to go to her country. Mahogany met Ben online and never even video-called him, despite the fact that he wanted to get married. Ben’s friends thought Mahogany was a scammer and a catfish because she’d only sent him photos with heavy filters and ultimately refused to show herself in Peru. But Mahogany’s shocking list of lies didn’t stop smitten 52-year-old Ben from getting engaged to the 22-year-old.
However, both Ben and Mahogany have deleted their Instagram after the show, leaving fans with no way to get any updates about the couple. Yet, Reddit user draggongold surprised fellow TLC viewers with a rare video of 90 Day Fiancé celeb Mahogany. They captioned their post with, “Mahogany’s latest TikTok”, thus letting fans know that Mahogany is active on that platform. In the video, Mahogany didn’t resemble the Mahogany from 90 Day Fiancé. Instead of letting her hair hang loose, Mahogany had tried it in a messy ponytail and was wearing large sunglasses over her head. Mahogany pouted at the camera and looked visibly slimmer compared to what fans remember her looking like on TV.
What Happened To Mahogany From 90 Day Fiancé?
Mahogany’s lies to Ben about her age, house, her English skills, and her refusal to acknowledge him as a boyfriend were reason enough for him to split with her on the show. However, the Tell-All confirmed Ben and Mahogany were together while he defended her by claiming she wasn’t being herself in front of the reality TV camera crew. In August, Ben and Mahogany posted a video of him proposing to her in Peru on their joint YouTube channel. Mahogany had now started to speak in perfect English while on the show, Ben struggled to talk to her even when using a translator.
At the same time, Ben and Mahogany were spotted filming together in Peru, which was an indication of them coming back to TLC. But in September, fans got a pleasant shock when a Reddit user claimed to spot Ben and Mahogany in Los Angeles. Fans wondered if Ben had finally brought Mahogany to the U.S. on a K-1 visa, which was always his idea. After all, Ben wanted to get married to Mahogany in America against the wishes of his ex-wife, friends, and grown-up children.
Ben received a lot of flak from 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days viewers for relentlessly pursuing a woman who was his daughter’s age. Mahogany too didn’t seem to mind Ben being 30 years older than her, in the end. Given how manufactured the drama on 90 Day Fiancé can sometimes be, all of Mahogany’s lies and apprehensions in their storyline could have been scripted for TV. If Ben and Mahogany are really together right now and planning a comeback via a spin-off anytime soon, it suggests the relationship was very much real from the beginning, just not convincing enough to many.
