Mahogany Roca recently told a 90 Day Fiancé fan why her photos with filters look so different compared to her unedited pictures. The photos flashing on 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days whenever Ben talks about Mahogany look unreal because they’re mostly heavily edited. In fact, the same photos exist on Mahogany’s social media pages, such as her Facebook and Instagram. As a result, some fans think that Ben is dating a catfish who's using fake pictures of Mahogany, a real woman, to fool him. Mahogany refuses to video chat, and the only video that Ben has from her is barely a few seconds long and also has filters on it. Alas, some fans discovered tagged photos of Mahogany without filters on her mother’s Facebook where she doesn’t look like herself.
When viewers first met Ben from Michigan, he revealed how spending half his life in a religious cult continues to affect him to this date. In any case, Ben felt something in his life change when he met Mahogany thanks to his fitness model stint. Ben's faith, which includes not having s*x before marriage, didn’t turn Mahogany off. There is a language barrier between Ben and Mahogany, but they texted several times a day. When Ben boarded his flight to Peru, Mahogany ghosted him and made an excuse about her father not trusting Ben’s intentions. Shockingly, this was the second time that Mahogany stopped Ben from meeting her in the three months they’ve dated. Between Ben admitting that there is a 3% chance that Mahogany is not being who she says she is, he also doesn’t want to give up on their love yet.
Ben, who recently revealed he wouldn’t mind dating Stephanie Matto, confessed that Mahogany is worth sticking around for. Besides, Mahogany has been insisting all the while that she is real and fans should stick around until the end. As seen below, a Twitter user called out San Bartolo resident Mahogany by writing, "I’ve seen the unfiltered pix of Mahogany (yes she’s real) and she’s attractive but she doesn’t look the same as her pix and she’s only 21 or 22 instead of 24” after watching 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days. When explaining why this happens, Mahogany tweeted them, “The photos you saw without retouching are mine at 15 or 17. Now I'm 22. I don't look the same.”
With Ben and Mahogany’s storyline already being confusing enough for everyone watching, Mahogany claiming that she’s 22 - and not 24 years old - has tangled things up even further. The unfiltered photos that the TLC viewer is referring to have been unearthed from Mahogany’s mother Silvia’s page and are between 2019 and 2020. So even if Mahogany is 22 now, she couldn’t have been a teenager back then. Things such as Mahogany’s location - San Bartolo - and her being deeply religious also check out, so it’s very much the same person. With that said, while Mahogany says she doesn’t look the same now, she didn’t deny that she’s been relying on filters for her newer pics.
One of the reasons why Mahogany possibly stood Ben up on 90 Day Fiancé is because she got scared as she doesn’t actually look like the photos currently on her Facebook and Instagram. At the same time, however, Mahogany’s press photo by TLC makes her look nothing like the retouched photos or the ones that don’t have filters. In any case, it’s also likely that Mahogany never meets Ben at all. Perhaps Mahogany only gives a private interview to TLC in the finale or the Tell-All.
