With 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days couple Ben Rathbun and Mahogany Roca’s story getting more and more unbelievable by the day and viewers suspecting it’s all fake, many clues suggest the pair is not together. 52-year-old Ben caught the attention of 24-year-old Mahogany thanks to a fitness photo shoot. Ben and Mahogany spent the next 115 days talking on chat before Ben began filming for the 90 Day Fiancé spinoff. However, Mahogany never video-calling Ben seemed suspicious to those around him, and in episode 7, she asked him not to come when he was boarding his flight to Peru.
Former pastor Ben has had difficulty starting over and relearning the ropes of dating. Since his divorce, Ben has dated younger women, even getting engaged to a partner 17 years his junior. However, none have come close to Mahogany, who wasn't bothered by Ben's faith talk and didn’t mind that he wanted to wait until marriage to have sex. Ben was also moved when Mahogany told him she'll love him like he’s never been loved before. While Mahogany’s words seemed deep and authentic, her photos with many layers of filters weren't. Ben claimed Mahogany must have a really good camera, but his children, along with TLC viewers, called out Mahogany for being fake.
Still, Mahogany was tracked down on various social media platforms by 90 Day Fiancé viewers who immediately questioned her. When one person accused Mahogany of being a “Nigerian scammer” who's catfishing Ben, she replied to them with, “I agreed to be on 90 Day Fiancé to share a dramatic story to watch. Keep looking and you will be surprised! But I clarify to be real and a young woman of 22 years.” Those who saw the comment were shocked because, on the show, Ben kept telling the cameras that Mahogany is 24 and not 22. This lie, along with other clues on social media, suggests Ben and Mahogany aren't together as of now.
For one, Mahogany has labeled herself as “single" on her Facebook page. The same goes for Mahogany’s Instagram profile as well where, in one of her saved story highlights, she shared if she’s single or with someone. Mahogany simply saying “Soltera” suggests she never pretended to be in a relationship with Ben even after 90 Day Fiancé. Additionally, Ben doesn’t follow Mahogany from his Instagram profiles, and she doesn't follow him, either. In fact, Mahogany doesn’t follow any 90 Day Fiancé related pages or other cast members.
Ben recently revealed the real reason he went on 90 Day Fiancé with Mahogany, possibly hinting at the status of their relationship in the process. The Michigan man wanted to inspire people by showcasing his love story. However, he added, “But then halfway through, it kinda changes,” which suggests things don’t go according to God’s plan for Ben, as he wanted to get married to Mahogany. Because Ben admitted he’s tried to meet Mahogany previously and it hasn’t happened, his trip in 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days episode 8 might also turn into a disappointment if she refuses to meet him again. The trailers haven’t shown any clips of Mahogany alone or with Ben which also raises suspicions. All told, it seems unlikely the two are a couple at this point.
