Fans have noticed that there seems to be a complete lack of chemistry between Kimberly Menzies and Usman “Sojaboy” Umar on 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days season 5, and it looks like this might be because their relationship could be completely staged. At first, viewers met Nigerian musician Sojaboy on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days season 4, which is when the 32-year-old married 54-year-old Lisa Hamme. Soon after their wedding, Usman filed to get a divorce. Their relationship was tumultuous and ended in Lisa getting fired from TLC. Although the current season of B90 makes many references to Sojaboy's ex-wife, it never mentions Lisa by name.

50-year-old Kim slid into Usman's DMs and they quickly started talking. Fans were already skeptical of the authenticity of their relationship when they saw it was with yet another American woman with a similar age gap. They became even more skeptical when Usman refused to refer to Kim as his girlfriend and instead called her his "potential." Even weirder was when Usman invited Kim to Tanzania to watch him film the music video for his new song, "Zara", which is about his ex, Zara. At this point, Kim doesn't know that the song is about his ex. Sojaboy lied to her and said the song was for all women named Zara across the world. On the show, it doesn't seem like she even knows he has an ex named Zara.

90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days viewers have also noticed other red flags in Usman and Kim's relationship over time. Fans cringed when Kim gave Usman a new MacBook Pro and a PlayStation 5 before they had even kissed (which, they still haven't). After the music video shoot ended, Kim suggested that Usman should give up his hotel room for one of his team members and sleep in her room instead. Although Usman originally declined, he later came to Kim's room to share a bed with her. However, he built a wall of pillows between them. Even though this made some fans sad for Kim, some fans started a Reddit thread to discuss why the scene seemed wildly staged. Otherwise, as one fan pointed out, "why would there be cameras in her room just chilling, waiting for him?"

One of the biggest clues that the relationship is fake is that, according to Lisa, Sojaboy and Zara were supposed to be on the show together. However, they broke up right before filming started. As a result, Lisa told InTouch that Sojaboy “picked Kimberly because he needed somebody.” On the show, Sojaboy told viewers that he and Zara split because she couldn't deal with the attention he got from his female fans, but he never elaborated on it. Even before Lisa claimed that Sojaboy and Zara were supposed to appear together on B90, some fans were speculating that "super-fan" Kim was really just a lucky fan that TLC picked to accompany Usman. Some people think Usman just really wanted to be on the show again no matter who he appeared to be "dating."

Lisa also alleged that the real reason Usman wanted to meet Kim in Tanzania and not Nigeria was because he didn't want his fake "potential" to meet his friends and family. Moreover, even though Sojaboy wrote a song for Lisa, he never wrote a song for Kim. He instead took her to a video shoot for a song about another woman. Lisa also claims that she and Sojaboy are still married even though she is also married to an American man named Tracey. Some 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days fans think that perhaps they are legally divorced in Nigeria, but that Lisa never filed the divorce papers in the US. As if all that wasn't enough, Usman recently slipped up and referred to Kim as his sister on Instagram, which is likely not something he would call a girlfriend.
