Since their 90 Day Fiancé debut together, Nigerian singer Usman Umar AKA Sojaboy and his girlfriend Kim Menzies have had a rollercoaster ride of a relationship. Restaurant manager Kim, a 50-year-old from San Diego, became a fan of Usman’s music when she watched him on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days season 4. Back then, 32-year-old Usman was getting married to another older woman, Lisa “Babygirl” Hamme, whom he divorced amid rumors of her getting fired for referring to him by a racial slur. While Usman was chatting with Kimberly, he was dating Zara, who eventually broke up with him due to jealousy over his fans. Usman had to fill Zara’s shoes on 90 Day Fiancé, and his second choice, Kim, obliged.

When Kim went to meet Usman in Zanzibar, she didn’t know that he was filming a music video about his girlfriend Zara in that country. Kim wanted to change her relationship status from “potential” girlfriend to official girlfriend, in order to feel like she had won Usman’s love. Usman was skeptical about dating Kim because of his broken marriage with Lisa. However, he didn’t hesitate to accept expensive gifts, such as a PlayStation, MacBook, and a blinged-out “Sojaboy” necklace, from Kim. This made fans conclude that he was using her for reality TV fame, as well as a Green Card. Meanwhile, Kim was called a predator for constantly trying to get Usman to have sex with her. Usman gave in to Kim’s advances after she threatened to end their friendship during the last leg of her Tanzania vacation. However, he finally told Kim about Zara, and ended up with a drink thrown in his face.

As Kim was about to leave Tanzania, Usman went to the airport to see her off. However, Usman refused to kiss Kim, which upset her. His excuse was that a smooch would mean he was announcing their relationship to the world. As soon as Kim flew back to America, Usman called Zara to share his feelings for her. He serenaded her with the song he’d written to honor her, and admitted that he still had feelings for her. Usman saw himself getting married to Zara, and having kids with her in the future. This call between Usman and Zara was shown to Kim during the Tell-All, and fans thought that it was the end of this troubled relationship.

However, on Instagram, Usman spoiled his storyline with Kim while defending himself after the episode aired. He claimed that producers egged him on for two hours, encouraging him to make the call to Zara. The call also apparently happened on his fifth day in Zanzibar, rather than after Kim had left. Usman went ahead and squashed accusations that he was dating Kim for wealth, by rudely claiming that he makes more money than she does. He admitted that he was hesitant about the age gap between him and Kim, but added that even when they go up and down, they always fix their problems. Usman warned TLC not to edit his story again, while addressing the fact that he’s not a regular cast member. He described himself as someone who’s been on TV all his life, who brings good ratings to the network.

While his words are hard to believe, Usman says he’s in love with his “Queen Kimballly,” and as per rumors, the couple got engaged during her last trip to Nigeria. When Kim and Usman were announced as returning cast members for 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? season 7, fans voiced their reservations about them not even being married. as that doesn't fit the context of the show. However, Usman and Kim have an entertaining quality to their storyline, which many other 90 Day Fiancé couples don't possess. Usman may have referred to Kim as his “sis” in the past, but chances are good that he and Kim will become husband and wife. He may get to come to the U.S., to become the next “Michael Jackson, Chris Brown, Jay-Z, amen.”
