Kim Menzies is threatening to end things with Usman Umar a.k.a. Sojaboy on 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days because she wants him to do “romantic and big.” There are several clues that all Kim wants from Usman is a ring. After finding out about Usman’s ex-girlfriend Zara, Kim has been asking herself if he really loves her at all. Usman keeping Zara a secret from Kim during their one year of chatting online is what hurt Kim the most. On the other hand, there’s also a fear of him leaving Kim for Zara who Usman has openly admitted to having feelings for on 90 Day Fiancé. So, it's possible that Usman will have to get engaged to Kim as a last resort to prove that she’s the only one for him.
On 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days season 5 episodes 12 and 13, Kim almost split with Usman as she warned him that she’ll be taking the next flight home from Tanzania if he didn’t show any efforts to maintain their relationship. Kim confiscated Usman’s “Sojaboy” necklace which, was actually her gift for his birthday. Kim stated that she wouldn’t return it until he proved he loved her. The situation was funny for Usman, but he ended up getting his drink thrown in his face by Kim. Disrespected Usman wished Kim a “safe flight” and commented that she was acting just like his ex-wife Lisa Hamme.
Right when Kim declared, “I’ve lost,” a preview showed her receiving a text from him asking her to meet at the beach bar. It seems that Kim’s ultimate wish of making Usman her “official” partner for life could be finally coming true. While Usman was never someone that fans could trust as always see him as someone trying to date gullible older women for a green card, Kim has been testing him and trying to push his buttons throughout the season. It’s almost as if Kim wants Usman to beg and plead for her to continue being a part of her life when he could easily find another American fan to date on Instagram. But her telling Usman “You prove to me you want me” is a clear invitation for him to propose to her.
Kim pressurized Usman earlier in the season into sleeping with her by manipulating him using the same methods. While he was hesitant to get intimate without making her his official girlfriend, Kim threatened Usman by saying that she’ll cut all contact with him when she’s back in the US. It appeared that Usman didn’t want to lose his friend, so he ultimately caved in to Kim’s demands. Her gifting him with expensive electronics such as a PlayStation and MacBook wasn’t working, but resorting to mind games gave her what she partly came to Tanzania for. After all, Kim blurted out during a confessional, “I’m hoping that on this trip I can convince him to be in a relationship with me because I want a future with Usman in America.” Besides, there are rumors of Kim and Usman getting engaged after she was spotted wearing rings on her left hand.
While Kim confirmed the rings belonged to her late mother Sally, she never denied if she was engaged to Usman. It’s highly likely that Usman has planned a proposal for Kim at the beach bar. Known for doing grand gestures for his girlfriends such as dedicating entire songs for them, it won’t be a difficult task for him to pull off. There’s an urgency in Usman’s text to Kim when he asks her to meet “now.” And since 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days is possibly a couple of episodes away from its finale, a proposal doesn’t seem too far-fetched in Kim and Usman’s storyline.
