Popular 90 Day Fiancé couple Kalani Faagata and Asuelu Pulaa are currently inching towards a possible divorce, but how had their love story really begun? Although they are still together, Kalani and Asuelu have had a relationship full of struggles as TLC viewers have seen since season 6. But with them seeking therapy and buying a house to save their marriage, life has been looking up for Kalani and her Samoan husband. However, will the 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? couple ever be able to experience the same attraction they felt when Kalani had first met Asuelu in July 2016?
The dramatic events that occurred in 90 Day Fiancé season 6, from Kalani raising baby Oliver as a single mom to convincing sister Kolini and Asuelu to get along, led up to their wedding in November 2018. However, season 5 of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? had Asuelu’s Samoan family get involved in the chaos, asking for money and creating obstacles. The current season teased Tammy and Lesina making matters worse for Kalani, who already has divorce on her mind. But Kalani was smitten by her “stalker” and now 90 Day Fiancé husband Asuelu, enough to lose her virginity to him.
In a video uploaded to the 90 Day Fiancé pair’s channel Kalani & Asuelu, they shared the story of “how we met” at the resort in Samoa. Back then, Kalani was 28, and Asuelu was 21. But while the activities director raked the beach, the TLC star saw her walking with her dad and went “googly-eyed.” Asuelu thought Kalani was 18, and their first words to each other were “hello.” The next day, Kalani was night swimming and that’s when she and Asuelu, who’d been impressed by her in a bikini, spent 2-3 hours talking about everything, from family to the Samoan language.
The fan favorite 90 Day Fiancé star recalled singing the song “Sa-vali-vali” to Kalani. After knowing her future husband’s age, she’d called Asuelu a “baby.” Asuelu revealed how his heart was broken and thought of ways to make Kalani like her, which included going kayaking. Kalani remembered thinking Asuelu would kiss her during a private moment, but two weeks passed with them hanging out as friends. One day before she had to leave for America, the 90 Day Fiancé couple went kayaking again. “That’s when we knew we liked each other,” confessed Kalani, and they went back to the resort where she asked Asuelu if he did and his reply was, “yes.”
Asuelu then asked Kalani if he could take her out, but his 90 Day Fiancé partner said how she’ll need permission from her dad as she was there for a family reunion. “So we got back to the beach after kayaking, he wrote my grandma’s phone number wrote it in the sand with a paddle,” said Kalani, who then first hugged Asuelu. He called Kalani’s grandma, but they couldn’t meet due to a family celebration; however, she asked Asuelu if they could meet before she left for the airport. The couple met, hugged, and walked to the chapel, where they first saw each other and had their first kiss. Kalani revealed Asuelu was “shoving his tongue inside her mouth.” Kalani gave him a letter which had all her details asking Asuelu to write to her, and as she left, they also apparently hugged in front of her dad.
“And the rest is history,” exclaimed 90 Day Fiancé beauty Kalani, who soon went back to Samoa to see shirtless Asuelu and decided to go against her Mormon faith, which taught “that you don't have sex before you're married.” However, Kalani added, “After my second visit to Samoa to see Asuelu, I felt like I found someone I loved and I wanted to experience (sex) with him. So we did the deed.” That’s how baby Oliver came into the picture and became a big brother to Kennedy in May 2019. So far, Kalani and Asuelu have somehow managed to sail through, but 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? season 6 could be the one that reveals if their marriage will be long lasting.
