After 90 Day Fiancé fans spotted a familiar face dancing in the crowds at The World Rugby Sevens Series in Los Angeles over the weekend, they couldn’t help but wonder if Asuelu Pulaa and Kalani Faagata are still married and together. Asuelu and Kalani not being in the current 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? season 7 has made fans even more curious about the couple’s relationship status. Tracing back to their TLC journey, Asuelu and Kalani first featured in 90 Day Fiancé season 6. Kalani had taken a trip to Samoa in 2017 and met Asuelu who was working at a resort where she was staying and soon enough found out she was pregnant.
Kalani had already given birth to their first baby Oliver when Asuelu was still in Samoa. On 90 Day Fiancé, Asuelu came to America on a K-1 visa. Amidst Kalani’s family voicing concerns about the relationship, the pair got pregnant again before their boat wedding and welcomed baby #2 Kennedy in 2019. Their next two stints on 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? season 6 and 7 followed Asuelu and Kalani’s married life closely and revealed all the tensions they had regarding Asuelu’s demanding family, and his irresponsibleness as a husband and father, with Kalani, even seeing an attorney to discuss divorce. After Asuelu got into a horrifying car accident, he and Kalani agreed to make their marriage work, but during a March 90 Day Diaries episode, Kalani admitted she was at a “breaking point” because Asuelu was refusing to put in any efforts to save the relationship or even raising their children.
Immediately after the episode aired, Asuelu unfollowed and blocked Kalani and even her sister Kolini Faagata on Instagram. As her Instagram followers watched Kalani dealing with her husband’s immature behavior all over again, they asked her if she was still together with Asuelu in May and her reply was, "I'll explain at the end of the month.” While Kalani didn’t say anything, it was Asuelu who addressed the divorce rumors in an Instagram post by sharing a throwback video of him dancing with Kalani and admitting, “She don’t wanna join my live she doesn’t want film tiktok with with me.” As per Asuelu, Kalani was now “different” from how she used to be despite him providing her and the boys everything they needed. But instead of getting into the details, Asuelu claimed he couldn’t say much because he is “under the contract” and his “life is under control.”
Asuelu expressed he wanted his own space but 90 Day Fiancé star Kalani did not agree with him and entirely refused to communicate with her husband. “Hopefully we sell this house very soon so I can go back to work,” Asuelu added. According to InTouch, the couple’s Washington, Utah, home, which was purchased by Kalani and father Low in June 2018, was placed for sale in May. Kalani herself told an Instagram follower, “Please someone buy my house so I can move back to California,” even though there’s been no new update on their house’s sale. Meanwhile, Asuelu has been cryptic about his current relationship status with Kalani. In June, he wrote that he’s “single” in an IG video, and in July, Asuelu showed a fan his middle fingers when they wanted to know if Asuelu and Kalani have split or are faking it for social media attention.
As of now, fans aren’t aware of any future 90 Day Fiancé spin-off that will feature both Kalani and Asuelu, while she currently stars in Pillow Talk with her sister. His referring to his contract, however, does suggest fans might get answers about their marriage via TLC sooner or later. Kalani’s Instagram feed still features photos of her and Asuelu, and he also hasn’t deleted any of the old dancing videos he’d filmed with her. Fans recently spotted Asuelu on the big screen while he was cheering for Manu Samoa at the HSBC Rugby Sevens tournament in LA and during the same weekend, Kolini got engaged to her mystery man in California which could mean that yes, Asuelu and Kalani are still married.
