Popular 90 Day Fiancé season 6 star Kalani Faagata took to Instagram on Saturday to share the unfortunate news that her grandfather Faavae Faagata had passed away. Though this would be a devastating blow to anyone, fans know how important family is to Kalani, making the loss all the more difficult.
Kalani’s journey on 90 Day Fiancé began when she visited Samoa and met her future fiancé Asuelu Pulaa. She visited Samoa a second time and became pregnant with the pair’s first child, Oliver. Kalani and Asuelu got engaged and began the K1 visa process. The couple has seen their share of rocky times, and Kalani’s family was not immediately onboard with her relationship. Her sister Kolini and father Low were suspicious and uncertain of Asuelu initially. They had reservations about the Samoan native’s motives and maturity. Kalani and Asuelu eventually got married. Soon after, they welcomed their second son, Kennedy. The pair and their extended families have appeared on several 90 Day Fiancé spin-off shows, including 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? and 90 Day Fiancé: Pillow Talk. While their families don’t always get along, Kalani and Asuelu clearly treasure the relationships they have with their own families.
With a heavy heart, Kalani announced on Instagram that her grandfather Faavae Faagata passed away on Saturday, January 16, just a few months shy of his 78th birthday. Kalani did not mention in the post whether his death was attributed to Covid. She focused on sharing the things she loved about him, like his sense of humor. Fans were quick to offer condolences and prayers to Kalani and her family. “I’m sorry for your loss, may he rest in paradise 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻,” one commenter added. Kalani also got support from her family and 90 Day Fiancé season 5 castmate David Toborowsky. Her sister Kolini left a simple message of five white hearts, while David commented, “I am so sorry for your loss. Sending prayers to you all ❤️❤️ 🙏🙏.”
After surviving such a difficult year, it is unfortunate that Kalani and her family must now mourn the loss of a beloved family member. Hopefully, Kalani can find some comfort in the overwhelming show of support she's gotten from her 90 Day Fiancé fans. Faavae Faagata will clearly be greatly missed by those who knew him.
