While 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? viewers are rooting for Julia Trubkina and Brandon Gibbs to get off of his parents’ farm, many think Julia is being unreasonable with her expectations. The married 90 Day Fiancé couple has memorably suffered under the strict rules and lack of boundaries that his intrusive parents, Betty and Ron, have enforced. However, Julia’s expectations for her new living situation appear to not be rooted in reality.

Russian city girl Julia fell in love with Las Vegas when the couple visited the city at the start of the season, but Brandon shut down her dreams of moving to Sin City with reality. Similarly on Sunday night’s new episode, Julia fell in love with an apartment the couple viewed only to find out they could not afford it on Brandon’s income alone. The former dancer then decided to audition for a job as a gym fitness and dance instructor though her risqué dance moves shocked her interviewers and did not earn her a job offer. Though some sympathize with Julia’s struggle to find work in a foreign country, others believe she needs to approach her living situation with more realistic expectations.

One fan took to Reddit to discuss Julia's behavior in a post titled, "Does Julia not understand math?" The user wrote, "She’s constantly pushing for their own apartment ( which I totally understand) but she can’t seem to understand that they have a limit based on income. So frustrating listening to her whine when they can’t get the big expensive apartment." While some critics came for Julia, others questioned the accuracy of what was being aired. “I always try to remember that some percentage of what we see is contrived for the show. So, for all we know, production has asked her to play out a storyline where she covets an apartment that they can't afford,” one commenter pointed out. “That entire apartment shopping scene is TLC frauding. Anyone can google ‘apartments [city name] [estimated budget]’. Or use apartments.com…or Zillow…or Redfin,” another exasperated viewer agreed.

Brandon and Julia 90 Day Fiance Fake Pregnancy

While some believed the scene was staged, others thought Julia might honestly be confused. “After watching her pull heels out of her gym bag.... I'm not sure she understands a lot of things... I think she's basing some idea that in the US if you're hot you're in high demand for anything. Poor confused Julia,” one viewer wrote. Others believed that she had false expectations. “Many of these ladies think any/all Americans are rich. Then again I’m sure their spouses tell the complete truth…” another commenter weighed in. Some added that some of the foreign spouses, such as Julia and Asuelu Pulaa, did not seem to accurately comprehend the cost of living in America. However, viewers also questioned if perhaps the American spouses mislead their partners about the extent of their wealth.

Though Julia and Brandon have been struggling under his parents’ roof and are also shown dealing with her intense jealousy issues, the couple appears less dramatic in real life. They frequently celebrate each other on social media and Julia recently shut down divorce rumors that were sparked after she photographed herself visiting family in Russia without her husband. The dancer explained that Brandon stayed behind for work obligations and because a travel visa was difficult to obtain. Therefore it might seem that the seemingly happy couple is manufacturing or exaggerating some of their 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? drama.
