Fans of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? are curious about the possible reasons for Julia Trubkina's green card being denied. TLC viewers watched as she was turned down for the opportunity to stay and live in the United States.
Julia is nervously waiting for the news that she can start her life in the United States legally. The wife of Brandon Gibbs was surprised she was turned down for approval after not being told about paperwork issues. The Russian dancer has big dreams about what her life should be like, and they include leaving the farm far behind. But she can’t do anything until she is a permanent resident of the United States. If the news comes back negative, she will have to leave her husband behind and return to the motherland.
While Gibbs thought they might have issues with lack of evidence to prove Trubkina lived at the farm, it turned out he had bigger fish to fry. After their interview, they learned that they were in limbo after being told there was new paperwork that was needed, explaining it was a brand new “like, requisite for the affidavit of support." Fans were not surprised to learn that even the immigration office had no idea what paperwork would be and had no extra details to offer. It could very well be that the government put out more paperwork due to the worldwide pandemic or that they just wanted to make the process a bit harder, especially since American/Russian relations are currently frosty at best.
The couple was told they would have to wait at least two weeks for additional information. On the USCIS website, it shows the full process and the paperwork you must submit. The first form that must be filled out is Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, which must be signed and have the proper fee attached. In addition, you must include a copy of your civil marriage certificate, passport-style photos of you and your spouse, evidence of all legal name changes for you and/or your spouse. For Gibbs as a U.S. citizen, he must show a copy of his valid U.S. passport or a copy of his U.S. birth certificate. When applying for the green card, Trubkina must show a copy (front and back) of Form I-551 (Green Card) or a copy of their foreign passport bearing a stamp showing temporary evidence of permanent residence.
The bottom line is the government can always ask for more documents or evidence if it feels the need to. So while it may be discouraging for the couple, if they want Trubkina to remain in the country, they will have to abide by the rules set forth by immigration.
