Julia Trubkina and Brandon Gibbs happily tied the knot on 90 Day Fiancé this week, but their nuptials have not been free from criticism, as they hit several snags on their way to the altar. While many viewers support the charming Russian dancer, Julia’s short wedding dress was criticized by a number of franchise fans. Previously, Brandon and his mother had accompanied Julia dress shopping where she tried on a number of glamorous floor-length gowns. Julia shared with her Instagram followers the reason behind her short dress and tennis shoes and why her wedding had to be held so quickly.

Though she wasn't married in her dream dress, many other aspects of Julia's wedding were successfully carried out. Brandon, who had previously been criticized for not being excited enough about the big day, finally stepped up and made Julia feel special. Meanwhile, her overbearing in-laws proved to be surprisingly sweet. Brandon's parents, Betty and Ron, made sure to include her family in Russia via a video call. The wedding was decidedly a tearjerker when Brandon read his vows to Julia in Russian and she delivered hers to him in English.

90 Day Fiancé features stressful circumstances for marriage, as couples must tie the knot within 90 days to meet the K-1 visa requirements. However, Julia shared with her Instagram followers that her wedding planning time was cut even shorter by the pandemic. Julia posted a wedding photo of herself and Brandon to her account with a lengthly explanation. She wrote, "we didn't have 90 days, we got married 60 days later. because the virus completely changed our plans. the dress was not ready, the shoes were not bought, the ring for Brandon did not come, we made a custom ring. I bought my ring in Russia. Brandon bought the suit before the virus started. there was no photographer. This is crazy. but you know my image reflected my character, I think so. I made the bouquet myself, the makeup was done in 5 minutes, the hairstyle too. I also cut Brandon's hair. sewed on the dress because it was big."

Many of Julia’s followers took to the comments to compliment Julia and the way her last-minute wedding turned out. "Congratulations on your love and success! You are a role model for perseverance and commitment!" one fan wrote as many echoed similar praise. Others made light of the situation. "I bet Betty was happy that in the end she got the Mother's Day for herself," one fan wrote. Betty was memorably aghast when Julia announced she wanted to get married the same weekend as Mother's Day. "Simple and sweet," another fan wrote. "You looked beautiful! When the world gets back to 'normal' then have the wedding of your dreams!" Others agreed that Julia could have her "dream wedding" in the future.

While some show viewers have been critical of Julia’s dress and expressed their opinions on Reddit, all viewers appeared in agreement that Julia made for a beautiful bride. Furthermore, many of her fans were fond of her short white dress and matching white tennis shoes. A number of supporters have shared that the look was comfy and cute. Meanwhile, many commenters agreed that Brandon cleaned up nicely. Though Julia wasn’t able to have her dream wedding and her family could not attend the ceremony, the dancer appears very happy with Brandon. Julia and Brandon are one of three season 8 couples who had their weddings broadcast on 90 Day Fiancé though the season has featured seven pairs. Viewers are awaiting the fates of Yara Zaya and Jovi Dufren, as well as Mike Youngquist and Natalie Mordovtseva, on next week's episode.
