When 90 Day Fiancé season 8 viewers finally saw Brandon Gibbs standing up to his parents Ron and Betty in the latest episode, many couldn’t believe their eyes. It was a confrontation that was a long time coming, especially with his future wife Julia Trubkia being made to work at a farm against her wishes. But when Brandon did break the news and gave his mother an ultimatum about leaving his Hummingbird Acres Farm home, Betty shed tears that 90 Day Fiancé fans declared fake. Could TLC really be airing a fake storyline about Brandon-Julia and his parents on 90 Day Fiancé season 8?

Notably, one of the most popular couples to have come out of season 8, Brandon, 27, and Julia, 27, got people talking from the 90 Day Fiancé trailer launch itself. Although new, their story soon turned out to be the most controversial with Brandon’s parents, Ron and Betty, getting involved in his sex life, while also allegedly indulging in animal abuse. And to add to the dislike toward “Debbie Johnson 2.0,” Betty and Ron were making their son Brandon and Julia sleep in separate rooms, having her do farm chores, and being nosy about her hickeys and birth control. A few episodes in, TLC viewers started wondering if pest control technician Brandon and his parents were fooling everyone and using the show to promote their farm. But Betty’s tears as she agreed to let Brandon and Julia sleep in the same room and also not work at the farm anymore, are making many doubt that they were real.

A Reddit fan posted a screengrab from 90 Day Fiancé with Betty’s “crying” face captioned, “we thought we would be gaining free labor not losing a son.” A top comment declares, “I refuse to believe these 3 are real people. TLC grew them in a lab,” to which the original poster 90 Day Fiancé fan has replied with, “Lol Betty and Ron are honestly made for this show.” Some TLC viewers also observed how Betty did not seem to have shed even one tear during this so-called explosive 90 Day Fiancé scene. “She’s trying soooo hard to squeeze one out lol” jokes a fan in the comments, and a reply to it laughs by adding, “NOT A SINGLE TEAR - as hard as she tried, bless her heart.” Meanwhile, a fan in the thread notes, “I can’t decide if the fake crying is for the cameras or if it’s to manipulate Brandon.” A reply to it hilariously says, “probably both,” while another fan adds, “Cameras. This is the most staged storyline in the show’s history.”

Could this 90 Day Fiancé plot with Brandon and his helicopter parents really be fake? After all, it was also reported that the “family friend” Aspen, who helps out the Gibbs’ at their farm, is actually Betty’s sister. Brandon and Julia were also seen celebrating New Year's Eve 2021 with “Aspen's" son and husband, thus hinting at the 90 Day Fiancé couple being married. So did any of these family’s fights exist in the first place, or is 90 Day Fiancé frauding?
