While Jovi Dufren’s friends and family were concerned that his wife Yara Zaya was trapping him, 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? fans speculate that the opposite is actually occurring. Jovi’s loved ones were surprised to hear that the New Orleans party boy was settling down and having a child since he enjoyed a hard-partying lifestyle. This led to some critics wondering if Yara was using Jovi for a Green Card and “trapping” him with their child. However, 90 Day Fiancé fans voiced that if anyone is being trapped in the relationship, it is new mom Yara.
Yara and Jovi shocked audiences when they revealed their unexpected pregnancy during season 8. However, both halves of the 90 Day Fiancé couple were eager to be parents once baby Mylah was born. Yara has since fully embraced motherhood and devotes all of her time and attention to her baby girl. Though Jovi loves his daughter, the underwater mechanics worker has demonstrated that he isn’t entirely over his hard-partying lifestyle. Additionally, Jovi still has plenty of maturing to do after he expressed shock over Yara breastfeeding in public. While Yara has shown herself to be a decorated new mom on Happily Ever After, some viewers are concerned that Jovi won’t mature and will continue to drag her down.
One viewer voiced their concerns on Reddit after watching 90 Day Fiancé. “Yara Isn't Trapping Jovi. It's the Other Way Around,” the user captioned their post. “Just finished episode 10 of season 8 last night and I can't believe how many of Jovi's friends/ family believe Yara is trying to baby trap Jovi. Jovi drinks whiskey at 8 in the morning. Your son is not a catch,” the user wrote. “I feel bad for Yara because whatever happens, Jovi is going to be a permeant fixture in her life from now on. This is why you gotta be careful with who you chose to procreate with.” Though Jovi isn't perfect, many commenters felt like Yara made her decision to be with him. "She picked him so I do not feel badly for her at all. Saying 'I wish Jovi [would] change' over and over again isn't going to make it so," one fan wrote.
Though the post received hundreds of upvotes, many commenters expressed that neither 90 Day Fiancé's Jovi nor Yara appear to be trapping each other. "I don't think either one is trapping the other. They seem to be in this odd relationship where they get off on the pseudo-drama they bounce off each other. And both of them seem to love Jovi standing up for Yara at every chance," one popular comment read. "Eh, Jovi's just kind of an idiot about some things. What I like about him is he is willing to go, 'Huh, I had no idea!" when it comes to baby stuff. He's teachable despite his...demeanor. I think they're gonna do fine and aren't really the trapper or the trap-ee," another person voiced.
Fortunately, 90 Day Fiancé's Jovi has taken steps to change since baby Mylah was born. However, it might not be enough change to keep his relationship afloat. The season 8 Tell-All revealed that Jovi went to a strip club behind Yara’s back and received a topless dance. The father also hasn’t completely shaken his hard-partying ways and is jealous of the attention baby Mylah gets from Yara. Such signs indicate that Jovi is not as mature as he wants viewers to believe.
