Fans figured that 90 Day Fiancé Jovi Dufren may have done a big mistake during the first few minutes of his introduction. Episode 1 of season 8 showed a nervous Jovi revealing the interesting story behind him meeting Yara Zaya and also proposing to her for marriage. But it was this marriage proposal that has stuck some TLC viewers as odd. Fans are now questioning if 90 Day Fiancé’s Jovi taking Yara scuba diving while pregnant was a safe bet.
Season 8 of 90 Day Fiancé premiered with a bang last week, bringing along four new couples and romances for viewers to love and to loathe. While none have created any major controversies yet, these TLC pairs still have a lot to offer when it comes to fodder for gossip. A prime example turned out to be Jovi Dufren, 30, a New Orleans based happy-go-lucky guy who’d met his future wife while traveling. Ukrainian Yara was the complete opposite of Jovi; her an “extremely girly girl” and him a lover of beer and fishing. But the 90 Day Fiancé pair did hit it off on Day 1 and toured the world for six months getting to know each other better. Trips to the Dominican Republic, Bali, and Yara’s homeland followed until Jovi learned of her surprising pregnancy. The TLC star then took no time in proposing to his lovely baby mama, which apparently happened underwater during a scuba diving sesh. It is this scuba diving adventure that seems to have left most 90 Day Fiancé fans confused.
“I guess with traveling and enjoying life you get a little carefree,” admitted 90 Day Fiancé’s Jovi before revealing that he and Yara were pregnant before her arriving in the USA. While mentioning how he was “shocked” when Yara told him about the pregnancy, Joey also accepts that he was “dumbfounded” as it was completely unexpected. “I thought she was trying to trap me, I thought this is her ticket to America,” Jovi says while explaining that he wasn’t yet ready to start a family. But after the initial shock wore off Jovi mentions ho they grew close and they flew to Cuba where he proposed to her, “she said, ‘yes’ and that that point we decided to apply for the K-1 visa.” However, 90 Day Fiancé’s Yara lost the baby soon after.
This confession by Jovi puzzled TLC viewers like the ones in this Reddit thread which claims, “a quick Google search says scuba diving probably isn’t the best idea while pregnant. I’m not saying that’s definitely why it happened but it was definitely not smart.” A reply to the post has a 90 Day Fiancé fan revealing, “I dive a lot and every time I go I have to sign a waiver that I am not pregnant,” as another one adds, “Dude is a tech diver so he really ought to know. Then again, we don’t know how deep and long they went.”
A very odd rumor about Yara allegedly having faked her pregnancy also seems to be going around in the 90 Day Fiancé community. The fact that Jovi himself mentions that Yara could have done it as “a ticket” appears to have added to TLC viewers’ doubts. However, all things aside, this being just the first week they’ve seen of Jovi and Yara, 90 Day Fiancé fans can expect to get their doubts and questions answered, probably within the show itself or on social media, soon enough.
