Jovi Dufren's mother, Gwen, recently told a 90 Day Fiance fan that she is called "babushka," which means grandmother in Ukraine. Many fans are applauding Gwen for adopting his daughter-in-law, Yara Zaya's culture. Earlier, she was labeled an overbearing mother because she asked Yara several questions about her previous relationship and her intentions to marry Jovi. Gwen gave Yara a judgmental look when she revealed that she was previously engaged. Yara told her that she changed her mind and broke up with her ex just four months before meeting Jovi.

Gwen was shocked to learn this new information. She was under the impression that usually, foreign women marry men from the United States to secure a Green Card. However, Yara told her that she isn't planning to stay in America after getting married. She wished to move to Budapest, Hungary, to live near her mother, who lives in Ukraine. Initially, Gwen came across as a nosy mother-in-law. However, she managed to emerge as the best parent in the second half of the season.

When Yara was pregnant and Jovi was stuck at his job amid the coronavirus, Gwen took her in as a family member. She even broke down into tears when she saw Yara missed Jovi. The season is over, but Gwen hasn't stopped impressing the 90 Day Fiance fans. She recently posted an adorable picture with Mylah. Gwen is snuggling with her 7-month-old grandbaby. A curious fan asked, "What are you called? Grandma? Mimi? Nana?" Gwen said that she is called "babushka," which means grandmother in Ukrainian. Check out the adorable photo below:

Many 90 Day Fiance fans seemed glad that Gwen is embracing Yara's culture and wants to be called babushka. A fan said (via Reddit), "She choosing to honour Yara's culture is yet another example of how a 90DF mother should be." Another fan was genuinely shocked but pleasantly surprised to see that Gwen is more than happy to be called babushka instead of "meemaw or whatever Americans usually use." Somebody else said that Jovi's mother deserves an award, and one fan wrote, "Gwen is so caring, supportive, and all-around cool. She seems like she'd be a blast to hang out with too."

Others said that usually, many grandparents aren't cool with intercultural marriages, and they experience discomfort with their grandbabies. However, Gwen is turning out to be the best "Cajun granny," who would love Mylah unconditionally. Earlier, it was revealed that when Jovi and Yara were at the hospital for Mylah's birth, Gwen went to their apartment. She cleaned, cooked different dishes, and did laundry so that the new parents would be able to spend some moments with their newborn baby. It is possible that Gwen was the victim of poor editing at the beginning of 90 Day Fiance season 8, or just like any mother, she was overprotective of her child.
