Popular 90 Day Fiancé star Jovi Dufren has an interesting underwater robotics job that may be causing marital problems with Yara Zaya, and we're here to share information about what he does for a living. The job that Yara complains about actually helped him to meet her, as he traveled for work. At 30, Jovi is one of the more successful TLC franchise stars. He has a good job that pays well, apart from his reality TV career. However, Jovi’s job is now a major worry for Yara. She doesn't like it when he has to leave for two months to work in Guyana. The 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? cast member's job as an ROV pilot and supervisor does take him around the world.

90 Day Fiancé season 8 couple Jovi and Yara surprisingly became fan-favorites by the time the Tell-All aired. Aware of their popularity, TLC execs cast them in a new season of Happily Ever After? As he adjusts to life as a new parent to baby daughter Mylah, Jovi is finding Yara’s overprotectiveness a bit grating. Meanwhile, Jovi turned over a new leaf after becoming a dad. He let go of his party-boy image. However, there was soon a new problem. Jovi said that he had to leave for work soon, although he had spent four months on a work trip right after their wedding day.

It was during his intro on 90 Day Fiancé season 8 that Jovi revealed information about his job. He said that he works in “underwater robotics”, after having spent most of his childhood on shrimp boats in Larose. “I guess being on boats is in my blood,” Jovi joked, before explaining that the team he works with does underwater maintenance on pipelines for oil production. Jovi explained how he loves his job for the cool things he gets to do while he's working, such as seeing sea creatures and seeing the world. A few more details were shared by Jovi in 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? He talked about sending a machine underwater, which is the “size of a car.”

Once the machine goes down to 12,000 feet, Jovi runs all of the controls for it. The machine is called an “ROV” or "Remotely Operated Vehicle." As per OceanExplorer, ROVs are “controlled by a person typically on a surface vessel, using a joystick in a similar way that you would play a video game.” Additionally, “a group of cables, or tether, connects the ROV to the ship, sending electrical signals back and forth” between the operator and the vehicle. Meanwhile, PlanitPlus explains that the work of an ROV pilot technician also includes, navigating the ROV’s route, avoiding hazards (such as moving parts of the ship), and operating robotic arms (if the vehicle has them). While he's working, Jovi will control the ROV while it performs simple tasks, such as picking up items from the seabed.

An ROV supervisor needs to be able to judge changing weather conditions and alter the dive program at short notice if it's necessary. Besides regularly maintaining the ROV and its associated equipment, and carrying out repairs “on location,” the specialist does technical tasks like “rigging and operating small boats and basic electronic and hydraulic construction, and writing reports.” On his LinkedIn, Jovi Dufren shared that he’s been working since September 2008. ROV supervisors also train, delegate work to, and assess technicians. Jovi leads his crew “through example.”

In a recent interview with HollywoodLife, Jovi revealed that he's working even more since Mylah’s birth, as COVID-19 rules mean that he has to do two weeks of quarantine before jobs start. This adds to the time that he spends away at work. There’s no phone connection available, and if there is Wi-Fi, it's strong enough to send a text message, but not strong enough for video calls. This means that Jovi can't interact with his baby via video. While Yara may be disappointed with Jovi’s growing work hours90 Day Fiancé fans expect him to find a way to make everything work, just like he always does.
