Ella Johnson has fallen hard for her "Asian prince" Johnny on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days season 5, but 90 Day Fiancé franchise viewers don't think he will make it to the United States to see his partner. Ella has earned viewer criticism, with some accusing her of fetishizing Asian culture and reducing her partner to where he is from and not who he is. However, it appears Ella and Johnny do share a real attraction for each other.

Ella is a 29-year-old rancher from Idaho Falls, who has a self-professed obsession with “Asian culture.” Her Chinese partner Johnny is a 34-year-old man from Jinan who fortunately also shares a fascination with ranch life and American culture. In addition to viewers being worried about Ella fetishizing her partner, the anime-enthusiast might face a harsh reality when Johnny sees her in person. Johnny has clear intentions on Ella significantly slimming down, which could affect her already delicate self-esteem issues. While Johnny is gearing up for a planned several-month trip to spend time with Ella on her family's ranch, there are already indications that Johnny and Ella don't have their anticipated United States reunion.

Johnny and Ella weren't introduced on Before the 90 Days season 5 until episode 3, while footage of the two of them together has not yet aired in any promos or trailers. Many viewers believe the couple's story will be cut short because Johnny will ultimately not be able to make the journey from China to Idaho. Though Ella said she would love to pack up her life and visit Johnny, the pandemic prevents her from making this trip. Therefore, Ella and Johnny are only able to see each other if Johnny visits her. Clips for an upcoming episode already show Johnny rethinking his decision, while Ella is shown to be alone and in tears for many of the promos that feature her.

If Johnny is not able to visit Ella, it doesn't mean the couple will end their year-and-a-half digital romance. It's likely that Johnny's family responsibilities will hold him back from seeing his potential future wife. Johnny is the sole provider for his parents and son, Stony. To visit Ella, Johnny would have to quit his job and give up his apartment. Johnny's parents are shown to be opposed to the idea in clips for new episodes, as they take care of Stony and rely on Johnny's financial assistance. Giving up his life in China wouldn't just change things for Johnny - it could severely impact his family and his son. Meanwhile, Johnny is reluctant to be so far away from the boy, especially given travel issues due to the pandemic.

Though there is still a chance Johnny and Ella are able to meet this season, Before the 90 Days viewers think it's highly unlikely. While many of the season 5 couples have hinted at being together on social media, Ella and Johnny show no indication they have ever met in person. Many viewers fear the initial meetup for the couple would shatter some of their fantasies, as Johnny appears to think ranch life will be easier than it is, while Ella will have to come to terms with the fact that Johnny being Asian doesn't make him somehow magical. The fate of Johnny and Ella will be determined on new episodes of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days.
