Many 90 Day Fiancé franchise fans find Colt Johnson unappealing, but Jess Caroline was very into him for a while, and we're here to talk about why she used to love him. Colt won the heart of Brazilian bombshell Jess Caroline on 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? Colt and Jess have both moved on. Jess married Brian Hanvey and Colt revealed that he recently got married to Vanessa Guerra during a road trip.  Though Colt has been slammed by fans for his cringe-worthy conduct in his relationships, Jess had her reasons for dating him.

Colt began dating Jess on Happily Ever After? after his marriage with another Brazilian woman came to a screeching halt. The American memorably divorced Larissa Lima after only half a year of marriage, following some explosive fights. Audiences were surprised to see mama’s boy Colt (who is considered undesirable by many franchise viewers) land another fiery and vibrant woman so quickly. Viewers were even more surprised when Jess shared that Colt was a cheater. She alleged that he cheated on her with his now-wife Vanessa, and also sent multiple women explicit photos while they were together.

Though Colt was a terrible partner to Jess, the American and the Brazilian clearly shared an attraction. Jess and Colt were vocal about their active sex life, and Jess evidently saw something in her partner that audiences couldn't see. Though he cheated on her, Colt appeared very infatuated with Jess in front of the cameras, before his infidelity was discovered. It was clear that Jess saw a future with Colt, as the two discussed having children. Colt’s clingy mother Debbie said her son had never had that kind of conversation with anyone. Colt went so far as to request permission to marry Jess from her father. There is a good chance that Jess perceived her romance with Colt as a fairytale since Colt appeared so interested in settling down with her.

Jess and Larissa have accused Colt of being manipulative. They think he's a selfish and unfaithful liar. Therefore, it's plausible that he deceived Jess by promising her a future that he wasn't prepared to actually offer her. Colt showed his true colors when Jess discovered he was cheating, and the Brazilian beauty failed to believe in their romance once the truth had been revealed. Colt was very selective in terms of any information that he gave Jess. He made sure to portray himself in a positive light. Jess was likely manipulated by his stories, which is why she initially didn't get along with Larissa. Other viewers believe that the relationship was scripted from the start. They think Jess feigned her relationship with Colt to be on TV.

While fans speculate, Jess had a final chance to confront her ex at the 90 Day: The Single Life Tell-All. Jess and Brian sat down with Colt, Vanessa, and Debbie. Though Debbie denied helping her son cheat on Jess, Vanessa admitted that she had cheated on her former husband with Colt. While Jess gave the newlyweds her blessing, many franchise fans think Colt and Vanessa are destined for a messy split given their many past infidelities. Franchise star Big Ed Brown doesn't think they'll last longer than six months.

Fortunately, Jess appears to have found a stable relationship with Brian. She's found the kind of love that Colt couldn't give her. The Brazilian bombshell even said she would be open to returning to the 90 Day Fiancé franchise in the future, with Brian at her side. Maybe that will happen someday.
