American grandma Jenny Slatten from 90 Day Fiancé has a serious case of wedding fever. And why wouldn’t she? The TLC celeb has waited for over eight years to marry India’s Sumit, who’s recently paid $20k for a divorce. Now that Jenny and Sumit are free to marry, although fans do see him developing cold feet, this does sound like a 90 Day Fiancé success story in the works. But before Jenny’s scandalous “shaadi” happens, here’s everything to know about the reality TV star.
It was love at first sight for 61-year-old Jenny who was, in reality, getting catfished by Sumit using a picture of Indian actor Ranbir Kapoor. Surprisingly, Sumit’s OG looks didn’t disappoint Jenny either, and a year later she hopped on a plane to Delhi to meet her Facebook fiancé. The 90 Day Fiancé couple lied to Sumit’s parents as Jenny overstayed with them for four months, and apparently taking his virginity in the process. But Sumit, half her age, soon got married off to another woman and kept it a secret from Jenny until she found out about it on her next disastrous "desi" trip. The divorce burnt a huge hole in Sumit’s pocket and also destroyed his relationship with his parents. Still, Jenny being Sumit’s top priority, the 90 Day Fiancé couple may soon become Mr. and Mrs. Singh. But what was Jenny’s past like before she decided to embrace the Indian life?
The 90 Day Fiancé star who hails from Palm Springs, California, had described herself as “not your typical 60-year-old woman” during her episode 1 introduction. Jenny has three daughters and four grandchildren back home. Her previous marriage was an unhappy one, having lasted for 15 years until Jenny’s husband left her for somebody else hurting her self-esteem. Before moving to Delhi, Jenny used to stay with her eldest daughter Christina who fans have often met on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way. Christina and her wife Jen are fan-favorites mostly for the sane advice they give Jenny on 90 Day Fiancé which she oftentimes doesn’t take, and obviously, supporting their mom. Christina and Jen have been married since 2008 and also run a YouTube channel called @Blend_it_boo together apart from sharing some awesome Instagram content.
When Jenny returned for season 2 of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, heartbroken after finding out about Sumit’s second wife, she had shifted base to daughter Dominique’s couch. It has then been five months since Jenny was staying there, with “no car, no job, no apartment, no furniture, no money, nothing,” as she’d given it all up for Sumit. Jenny’s third daughter hasn’t made an appearance on 90 Day Fiancé yet, fans might just get to see her if she visits India for her mom’s future wedding.
In order to move to India, Jenny had quit her previous job and taken out all her 401(k) savings to be with her 90 Day Fiancé lover. Jenny used to work at a resort and only had about six thousand dollars which had made her financial advisor on the show call her “nuts.” But now that Sumit has been working as a chef himself, and could also be eyeing a marketing agency job, things have started looking better for the 90 Day Fiancé couple. While the TLC paycheck would be helping Sumit and Jenny pay bills right now, fans still worry if Sumit is fully committed to the relationship as Jenny. But if their Instagram posts are a sign, the 90 Day Fiancé couple seems to be enjoying drama-free marital bliss, despite debatable the age difference!
