On March 2, Paschel took to his social media to fire back at fans who believe the show should be boycotted because he is on it. Fans of the show will recall that Paschel has been accused of some heinous crimes which include aggravated kidnapping, domestic assault, interference with an emergency call and vandalism. He also admitted in the last episode to dealing drugs when he was younger because his family was struggling to survive. Some fans have wondered why Paschel was even allowed on the season to begin with. Fans have begun to boycott the show and sign a petition to have him removed. In a lengthy statement, Paschel addressed that he had been asked at length why he would ever want to appear on the show.

The Tennessee native admitted he knew his past would-be put-on display for all to see and judge but bluntly said it was his decision saying, "Well, guys, it is MY past. It is MY life. It is MY choice." The new reality star posted a photo to his Instagram which looked as if he was trying to be artistic as he posed at the end of a tunnel and was darkened by a shadow. Paschel revealed that for years he lived a very sheltered life and did not know how to be honest with who he was or what he may have done in the past. The father admitted to lying about his age, past relationships, and overall life. Paschel continued to say that by choosing to participate in TLC’s show the truth will forever be out in the world and can no longer be denied.

As to the fans that oppose him being on the show, he believes that they only aim to hold him back and drag him down. Even though it seems audiences aren't happy with watching someone with a bad past on the show, it seems that for now, it looks as if TLC has no intention of letting the star go as his volitile past does bring ratings to the show.
