90 Day Fiancé fans are worried about cast member Johnny Chao after his girlfriend Ella Johnson admitted to cheating on him in 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days. 34-year-old Johnny and 29-year-old Ella made a late entry into the reality TV world, but curiosity surrounding their storyline was high since it seemed like the result of an Asian fetish. Ella confirmed everyone’s doubts when she revealed she wanted to date an Asian man because of her “Asian obsession.” Ella met eligible candidate Johnny on a Facebook group for White women who are attracted to Asian men. While fans were sure Ella was never in love with Johnny, they wondered if he too had a fetish for plus-sized women.

However, Johnny proved he’s probably the sincerest man on the show by refusing to dump Ella even though she cheated on him. Johnny also took the blame for Ella’s infidelity after she played the victim and made it look like she slept with her friend after growing tired of waiting for her long-distance boyfriend. All scenes between the pair on 90 Day Fiancé have been her throwing childish tantrums about why Johnny can’t meet her and him trying to explain the hold up was due to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to Ella, her self-worth is tied with wanting physical attention from men, and Johnny not being able to give it to her by refusing to meet even halfway in Dubai forced Ella to cheat.

During a recent episode, Johnny confessed that he understands Ella's feelings and planned to meet her in February. “I can understand her feeling because I’m just keep her waiting for such a long time. I didn’t fulfill my part good,” he said. Johnny also promised Ella a diamond ring as he declared, “whether the world is on, on fire, like a typhoon or a tornado¸ I’m gonna go, go there.” This part really made fans feel bad for Johnny because Ella emotionally blackmailed him into appeasing her by crying when he was the one hurt by her admission. Fans even offered to help Johnny find a good woman who would treat him better, unlike Ella, who continued having an affair, despite Johnny agreeing to meet her in Dubai.

It also seemed like Johnny was confused and trying to gather his thoughts after Ella’s big revelation when she claimed she did not “trust” the promises he was making. Ella has been pushing her narrative of Johnny making excuses to not meet her when she misses the point of him being a responsible family man. Johnny can’t afford to lose five weeks in quarantine upon returning to China from the UAE, where he would be with Ella for only two weeks. It even puts Johnny’s job at risk when he is also supporting his elderly parents back in Jinan and a child with whatever money he makes. Even when Johnny refused to meet Ella in the U.S. he spoke about how he’d go bankrupt if he fell sick and were to be hospitalized there. “If I get sick, then I cannot provide to my family,” Johnny told Ella, who in turn asked him if his parents told him to postpone his trip.

If there’s one adjective that describes Ella perfectly on 90 Day Fiancé, it’s “selfish.” At the same time, Johnny has been nothing but calm and composed even when he knows there’s a chance he may lose Ella and their relationship. Johnny may have a motive to come to the U.S. to guarantee a better future for his son Stony. However, Johnny’s sincerity and love towards Ella have proven that he’s deserving of all the sympathy he gets from TLC viewers. The bottom line is, Johnny is too good for Ella, who doesn’t value him or his responsibilities. Ella’s only dilemma in life is how her physical urges aren’t being satisfied in a long-distance relationship she has sought herself. While Johnny has to risk his, his child’s, and his parents' health during the pandemic just to please a woman who couldn’t care less about him.
