The majority of 90 Day Fiancé fans and cast members are supporting Juliana Custodio amid her breakup with Michael Jessen, and it's time to explain why. When Juliana met fans on 90DF season 7, she was perceived as a gold digger who married wine entrepreneur Michael Jessen just for his money. Goiânia native Juliana, 23, has a 20-year age gap with Michael, 43, whom she’d met at a yacht party in Croatia. 90 Day Fiancé showed Juliana moving to America after many visa struggles and bonding with Michael's ex-wife, Sarah Naso. She also grew close to Michael and Sarah's kids, Max and Cece Jessen.
While older Instagram posts from the pair suggested that they were part of a happy, blended family, Juliana recently hinted at an incoming divorce. Earlier this week, Michael confirmed their split with a passive-aggressive post on their second anniversary. When Juliana first posted a TikTok video fuelling rumors of marital troubles, she stated, “So when you guys find out, you guys going to hate me forever.” Fans then wondered if she cheated on Michael. She celebrated her birthday away from Michael, and when the questions started pouring in, he took a social media break.
On October 12, Michael confirmed the split while writing that it was their second (and last) wedding anniversary. He described their breakup as a byproduct of the COVID-19 pandemic. “I do not blame you for wanting to leave and for desiring a new start,” he wrote, before adding that Juliana wanted to return to the life she lived before they met. The 90 Day Fiancé celeb also implied that Juliana had already started dating a new man. Michael seemed heartbroken after the breakup.

Although Michael later apologized for his post and edited his original caption, Juliana had already posted a now-deleted reply that won 90 Day Fiancé fans over. Juliana, who had famously said, “mens don’t control me” on the show, proved that she was ready to admit that she was put in an uncomfortable position during her marriage. Juliana set the record straight and didn't let Michael control the narrative, and she also revealed the many reasons why the marriage had been an unhappy one for her. At this point, she finally sees a rainbow “after the storm." The Brazilian beauty noted that COVID-19 did take a toll on their relationship, and claimed that Michael didn’t stay by her side. She felt that the marriage became so “toxic” that she wasn’t “living the life” she wanted to live.
Juliana Custodio Felt Like A Servant
Juliana was the only person working in the household during the tough times, and she was supporting Michael, the kids, Sarah, and Sarah’s husband. “I was feeling like a maid,” Juliana admitted. Unfortunately, fans saw signs of Juliana’s struggles on her social media and on 90 Day Fiancé: Self Quarantined. A highlight on Juliana’s IG (it was called “cleaning”) shows her tidying the entirety of her and Michael’s marital home in Connecticut, which was under threat of foreclosure prior to their split. On the spin-off that aired in May 2020, Juliana noted how messy Sarah’s husband Sean Naso was. "He leaves glasses everywhere," Juliana confessed and exclaimed, "I'm not a maid."
Currently signed with Time Model International and stationed in Germany, Juliana’s life hasn’t been a cakewalk. She used to sleep in a room full of chickens, worked in a sweatshop at the age of eight, and was possibly a victim of exploitation and human trafficking. Several 90 Day Fiancé co-stars, such as Larissa Lima, Akinyi Obala, Emily Larina, Jasmin Lahtinen, and Fernanda Flores have shown Juliana support following her heartfelt post.
