At one point in time, 90 Day Fiancé was a great show, but now, fans of the reality series believe that many cast members only appear on the show for clout, perhaps to gain followers on social media. The beginning of the series featured couples dealing with differences in personality and culture, and overcoming difficulties associated with obtaining K-1 visas. The earlier couples who were showcased had a genuine interest in each other.

There have been many controversial casting choices made in recent 90 Day Fiancé seasons. Although the cast does rotate somewhat, in recent seasons, some of the returning members have irritated fans, including Angela Deem and Ed Brown. Whereas earlier 90DF celebs seemed honest, and interested in building lasting relationships, many of the current stars seem to want fame more than anything else. While certain celebs will likely appear on 90DF in 2023, fans hope that the ones who are after clout will vanish from the series, as they detract from the original goal of the show. Their unnecessary drama and shameless self-promotion are considered obnoxious by viewers.

Does 90 Day Fiancé Need More Genuine Stars?

Drama can keep viewers entertained, but 90 Day Fiancé has gone too far when it comes to featuring those who stir up drama to gain more social media followers. Reddit user MDCDF stated that, "genuine people" made for a better show than, "people looking to stack their insta followers." Many others agreed. Some fans believe that the show has gone, "downhill" since its early seasons, and has become more, "staged" than before. Liz Woods' restaurant ownership drama is an example of a storyline that fans think was staged. Without authentic moments from cast members, the show ceases to be as interesting as it was in the beginning.

Are 90 Day Fiancé Producers Choosing To Cast Trainwreck Couples?

Other fans complained that TLC often shows the, "biggest trainwrecks," rather than loving couples. With so many misunderstandings and outrageous accusations, some feel that the show would be better if the casting was more selective. Thus, individuals who are only wanting to appear on reality TV to gain fame (and later, lucrative sponsorship deals) would not appear on the show. That way, there would not be a, "performance" for the amusement of viewers, the way that fans suspect that Angela Deem put on a show during the first part of the Tell All episode. Instead, fans would watch real international relationships develop and change over time, as the original premise promised.

Fans are tired of seeing 90 Day Fiancé cast members use the show to promote their own ventures, whether it be clothing lines, makeup brands, or, as one Redditor said, "Only Fans and other sites." Some former cast members, such as Tim Malcolm, had successful businesses before their appearances in the franchise, but others have used their newfound fame to propel their careers in new directions. Fans are sick of the show's producers using influencers, or aspiring content creators like Tania Maduro, to keep the show going. They want producers to find real couples that an audience would want to follow. Genuine content would hold fans' interest more than something contrived and staged.
