Season four of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days featured the first LGBTQ couple, Stephanie Matto and Erika Owens. It was a progressive step taken by TLC, though the pair didn't have a happy ending. Now, some fans have a theory that Stephanie is not bisexual and appeared on the show only to progress her social media career. Let's see what Erika has to say about these allegations; after all, she was the one in a (sort of) relationship with her.

We understand why some viewers might be skeptical about Stephanie's sexuality. First of all, she is a social media influencer and has a decent number of followers on her Youtube and Instagram accounts. So, it was pretty obvious to assume that she's on TV only to gain fame when she showed little to no efforts in growing her relationship with Erika. The assumption stood right when the influencer didn't show any intimacy and kept on fighting at petty issues with her partner. Despite coming all the way from New York to Australia, she didn't try to resolve her insecurities and trust issues. We hardly remember any scenes where the two were seen spending quality time together instead of having constant quarrels.

While speaking to ET, Erika poured her heart out and expressed her feelings about her ex-partner's sexuality. She said, "Sexuality is a very personal thing, and sometimes it takes, like, exploring yourself to be able to figure that out, you know?" She continued, "It sucks that at some points, it felt like the figuring out of things was at my expense, but I'm not gonna sit here and say that she is something or she isn't, because that's her own personal journey." Well, it seems like Erika knew that Stephanie was not sure about being bi-sexual. But, she was still there with her while she was trying to figure out things.

Stephanie and Erika 90 Day Fiance

Like a true partner, she supported Stephanie and criticized people who are making accusations that Stephanie's sole agenda was to gain the audience's attention and grow her social media following. She said, "I don't think it's fair for them to say that in the first place to a stranger and secondly, you know, even to make a judgment in the first place." The 24-year-old also understands the journey of identifying oneself as a homosexual. She added, "Of course, like, people can have their doubts or whatever, but like I've mentioned before, this is Steph's journey, and it's no one's place to, like, publicly go for her."

Many viewers saw that Stephanie got too aggressive when she learned that Erika didn't tell her about a long-term relationship she had in the past. Her reaction was alarming to Erika and probably the biggest deal-breaker. The Australia-based photographer seems like a good catch - she is very mature and understanding. It's sad to see that the first-ever lesbian couple on the franchise couldn't have a victorious ending. Still, it's good to see that through the series, the two were able to come out to their parents and proudly announce their sexuality to the world.
