New 90 Day Fiancé star Emily Bieberly thanked her weight loss for giving her the confidence to post a no-makeup selfie after fans accused her of heavily editing a bold Instagram photo. 29-year-old Emily and her 34-year-old partner Kobe currently star in season 9 of the TLC flagship series. Emily had met Kobe during a short trip to China, where she worked as an English teacher. Kobe, an underwear model, proposed to Emily, and their one-night stand became a full-fledged relationship. Soon enough, Emily found out she was pregnant with Kobe’s baby, only for them to get separated from each other for two years due to visa issues and COVID-19.
Kobe’s first reaction upon seeing his wife-to-be when he arrived in America from Cameroon was to comment on her weight. Emily didn’t seem to mind on camera, but on Instagram, she immediately started posting about her fitness journey. Emily showed off her new, healthier body and revealed she’d lost 18 pounds since giving birth to her and Kobe’s son Koban. But while Emily’s makeover was truly inspiring, she started gaining notoriety due to her breastfeeding her baby on camera and acting controlling around Kobe. Critics have crowned Emily the 90 Day Fiancé season 9 villain and were even more irked by her recently when they came across an Instagram pic in which she’d supposedly edited her face beyond recognition in a very revealing self-portrait.
Fans took turns in comparing Emily to fellow 90 Day Fiancé alum Mahogany Roca, who loves using filters so much that fans initially thought she was a catfish, and then, Darcey Silva, who is rarely seen without a filter on her social media profile. Perhaps Emily felt like slamming the ones who mocked her picture because she wasted no time in posting a picture of her without any visible editing. With her luscious wavy hair swept to one side, 90 Day Fiancé cast member Emily blankly stared into the camera while taking her selfie. Emily was dressed in a brown tank top, probably fresh out of a workout since she credited it for the way she was looking.
“No makeup. No filter,” Emily wrote in her Instagram caption on Tuesday morning. She spoke about how “great” it feels to see “results” after putting in “the work.” Emily didn’t exactly talk about the fitness routine she’s following but she did add an emoji of a person lifting weights in her caption and let it do the talking. Salina resident Emily wished her 24K-plus followers a happy Tuesday. However, not everyone seemed happy about Emily’s bare-faced photo. One 90 Day Fiancé viewer claimed that Emily was lying and “Def has make up on.” Another TLC viewer told Emily that she is probably the “#1 90 day fiancé villain” and shockingly, Emily liked the comment. A few of fans' words weren’t as harsh, and they said that Emily looked good and also advised her to quit putting Kobe down on 90 Day Fiancé.
Regardless, Emily did receive some positive messages, including one from her 90 Day Fiancé co-star Shaeeda Sween. Emily and Kobe didn’t feature in episode 12 but that doesn’t mean the hatred towards her has lessened by any means. Fans who aren’t aware that Emily and Kobe are still together and have even welcomed a second baby keep wishing for the man to call off their wedding and go back to his country. But not everything is as it seems on 90 Day Fiancé, and it’s very likely that Emily and Kobe might just be amping up the drama in their storyline, which makes it seem like their relationship is not meant to be.
