One of the new cast members on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, Ellie Rose, was married to her first husband Matt before she embarked on her season 3 journey with Providencia man Victor. Seattle-based Central Pizza owner Ellie is 45 years old and her Caribbean partner Victor, whom she met while on a solo trip to Colombia, is 38. Ellie’s love story, which involves her going to the island amid Victor cheating on her and a class five hurricane Iota, spells troubled times ahead. But 90 Day Fiancé star Ellie’s past, too, is painful, with her first marriage having ended in the worst way possible.
Bartender and musician Victor cheated on Ellie while they were in a long-distance relationship and planning to get married in America. It was after the other woman messaged Ellie that she found out about Victor having a full-blown relationship behind her back. However, Victor was “sincere” in his effort to get Ellie back and even claimed the mystery woman had “tricked” him. Despite their breakup, Ellie is packing her bags to move to Providencia. Her situation goes into crisis mode when Victor becomes unreachable amid the horrifying hurricane.
Alongside Ellie’s friend Hiromi wondering what other secrets Victor is hiding, fans know very little about the Providencia resident’s past. However, Ellie has won fans over by being an open book and sharing her emotional life story with them within the first few minutes of her introduction. Victor’s survival is a major concern for Ellie, who has already faced a gigantic loss in life before him. TLC viewers want her to only find happiness and a partner who loves her without any ulterior motives.
Ellie Remembers Her Small Town Past
When Ellie was young, she never imagined she’d be known as the “pizza lady.” Ellie hails from a small town in Nevada called Austin. Victor’s partner grew up in a log cabin built by her father, but she always dreamed of living in the city. In her high school yearbook, Ellie was voted as “most likely to never come back.” Ellie then moved to Seattle in 1995, where she currently resides.
What Happened To Ellie’s Ex-Husband Matt
At 28, Ellie got married for the first time. Her husband, Matt, and Ellie worked on the same street but in different bars. He was a very “happy, fun-loving guy.” According to Ellie, Matt loved her a lot and he was the kind of guy who, whenever he walked into a place, would declare, “I love this lady. I love her.” 11 months after they got married, Ellie and Matt went to Atlanta, where he was from. One night, Ellie went to bed early and when she woke up she discovered Matt was dead. “It changed my life, you know, forever,” Ellie shared, calling the memory “just awful” and something she could never recover from. As per the coroner’s report that came in a few weeks later, TLC celeb Ellie found out that her former husband accidentally overdosed on a prescription painkiller.
What We Know About Ellie’s First Husband Matt
Ellie admitted her life was never the same after that. The fear of losing someone and going through the process again kept Ellie from opening up her heart “completely to someone,” until she met Victor. According to Starcasm, an obituary revealed that Matt passed away on August 7, 2004. Matt was survived by 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way cast member Ellie, both his parents, and a brother and sister-in-law. Ellie’s husband was just 36 when he passed away. Fans are now rooting for Ellie to have a successful life together with Victor, despite the red flags.
