Johnny Chao recently turned to Instagram to defend Ella Johnson after she admitted to cheating on him on 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days, but many fans think that it doesn’t justify her actions. Ella was introduced as a 30-year-old woman from Idaho. She seemingly always had a strong fascination with Asian culture and enjoys partaking in Wiccan activities. Meanwhile, Johnny was introduced to fans as her boyfriend from China. After almost two years of dating, however, they still hadn’t met each other. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, traveling hasn’t been as easy as Ella had hoped it would be.

Since traveling between China and the US is currently prohibited, Johnny planned to fly to Dubai and quarantine before meeting Ella in the US. Unfortunately, Johnny became warier of the ongoing pandemic and suggested putting the trip on hold. Then, Ella booked a $1,200 ticket to convince Johnny with money she didn’t have and asked him to go anyway. Despite the grand gesture, Johnny still declined the offer to meet, which prompted Ella to give him an ultimatum: he either meets her to make their relationship official or they move forward as an open relationship so that she can date other potential partners.

Since the last time this duo appeared on Before The 90 Days, Johnny remained adamant about his reluctance, whereas Ella admitted that she called a male friend for emotional support. After revealing that she slept together with her friend that night, a distraught Johnny asked for her ring size, hinting at a possible engagement when they meet. After the episode aired, many 90 Day Fiancé viewers were disappointed in Ella. On the other hand, Johnny quickly came to her rescue. As seen in the Instagram post below, Johnny wrote, “Unfortunately I acted as coward to fly to Dubai... That was my wrong and I know I let her [be] heartbroken.

Despite their rollercoaster relationship, many viewers believe they are still together, and this post might confirm their suspicions. Johnny went on to say, “For what happened to the past, I think I have no right to blame her for what she did. I know I wasted her best age. I feel great [guilt] and what I did is totally unfair.” It seems like Johnny has forgiven Ella and even confusingly took the blame, but many viewers are not as understanding. Regardless of how lonely she was, Ella should’ve never relied on someone else to provide her with happiness. Calling Johnny instead of this mystery man would’ve been the best option. While some viewers questioned Johnny’s real feelings, it appears that Ella has some dubious motives herself.

Issuing an ultimatum that allows her to sleep with other people - and then doing it anyway without reaching an agreement with Johnny - doesn’t exactly read as “true love.” Johnny’s hesitancy had to do with safety. Meanwhile, her actions seem plainly selfish. While it’s admirable that he’s willing to understand her point of view and forgive her, his Instagram post still doesn’t justify her actions. Overall, it appears Johnny wants to leave the past in the past, but viewers are impatiently waiting to see the outcome for Johnny and Ella's relationship in the next episode of 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days.
