90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days star Ella spilled how her “Asian culture” obsession led her to find a real-life boyfriend from China, Johnny. Idaho resident Ella is 29 years old and calls herself a country girl. The trailer for her 90 Day Fiancé segments has shown Ella wielding a long sword and talking about hitting the proverbial “jackpot” when she met Johnny. Fans have already compared Ella to Deavan Clegg from 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way because everything that the newcomer has said in the teasers suggests she has an Asian fetish.
Deavan, meanwhile, thinks that Ella and Johnny are “replacements” for her and her estranged Korean husband Jihoon Lee. Utah native Deavan suspects that it’s 90 Day Fiancé producers trying to create a fake storyline. According to Deavan, Ella is wrong to fetishize someone for their race. But what really annoyed Instagram model Deavan the most was Ella wearing a Samurai costume from the Japanese culture and eventually finding a man, Johnny, from China to marry. Incidentally, Deavan’s theory is being proved right after Ella finally shows up on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days on episode 3.
A sneak peek of Ella and Johnny’s story shared by E! News reveals how exactly she met her “Asian Prince.” As she explains her “ideal man” Ella notes that he would be an “exact blueprint” of her favorite anime crush. He would have to have red hair, green eyes, and a fox demon inside him. “But in real life, of course, he’s gotta be Asian,” she coolly comments. Meanwhile, Ella explains her search for an "Asian man" had led her to a social media page called “Asian men, White women” which is how Johnny entered her life a year and a half ago. While Johnny doesn’t have the hair and eyes of her choice, various photos of Johnny flash on the screen with Ella sharing that he is 34 years old and has an “amazing” smile to match his “perfect” eyes.
“When I first started talking to Johnny, I was like ‘Oh my God, I just hit the jackpot,’” Ella confesses. Johnny appears to be reciprocating Ella’s feelings through his lovey-dovey videos and messages such as “today you are so perfect” and “so beautiful” he sends to her. But then Ella adds some more problematic layers to her story when she says that Johnny and she “have a lot in common.” According to Ella, she is a western girl who has this “Asian obsession” and Johnny is an Asian man who has a “western culture obsession.” And yes, they both also happen to “love anime.” The pair became “boyfriend and girlfriend” about six months ago before 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days season 5 started filming them and they talk every single day.
Ella thinks that Johnny is going to be “the one” she spends her life with. Meanwhile, Ella and Johnny’s face-to-face meeting will prove to be difficult on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days due to COVID-19. Ella also is insecure about her weight which seems to be what also bothers his family back in China. Still, some TLC viewers wonder if Johnny too has a plus-size fetish which is why he’s Ella in the first place. In all likeliness, the season won’t show Ella and Johnny meeting in person. But how long, a relationship that seems to be entirely built on fetish survives on 90 Day Fiancé is making fans look forward to Ella and Johnny’s story.
