Colt Johnson and his mother, Debbie Johnson, have been regularly at odds throughout their time on 90 Day Fiancé, but their recent time on the show has been more tumultuous than ever and fans are concerned they may not repair their relationship. Originally, Debbie was on the show as a co-star to support Colt and his endeavors with his various love interests. This year, everything changed as she entered 90 Day Fiancé: The Single Life season 2 with a brand-new makeover and ready to jump back into the dating pool after remaining single for over 13 following the passing of her husband.
In past seasons, Debbie has not exactly been the most supportive of Colt. Debbie strongly disliked his first Brazilian wife, Larissa Lima, and was more supportive of their separation than of their marriage. After they separated, Colt returned with a new love interest: Jess Hanvey, which was yet another Brazilian woman that Debbie wasn't a fan of. Once again, the news of their breakup excited Debbie more than their actual relationship. Colt returned this time with his current wife, Vanessa Guerra. It appears Colt has found the love of his life, and Debbie is now looking for the same thing. With the roles having currently reversed, Colt is the one who dislikes his mother’s decisions and the constant blow-ups of season 2 have made viewers think that their relationship is unrepairable.
At first, their problems began when Colt revealed he wanted to live alone with his wife Vanessa. In previous seasons, Colt stated that his mother was getting older and he had no intentions of leaving her. Debbie obviously didn’t like this idea for a change and even called her son a “rotten bast**d.” Unfortunately, the blow-ups between mother and son continued to get worse from that point forward as Colt started to question whether Debbie’s latest love interest was a catfish.
In episode 9, Debbie went on a road trip to meet a man that she has never seen - not evenvia video message. Colt and Debbie’s friend Audrey began asking her about the specifics of their relationship, inquiring how often they speak and how much she knows about him. Unfortunately, those questions made Debbie feel attacked and her patience wore thin. She told them, “You guys are interrogating me about questions that I have no f**king answer to, and you make me feel really stupid.” Four hours later, her attitude didn’t improve. Debbie ultimately stormed out of the car when Colt stopped at a stoplight.
Despite Colt and Debbie both having forceful personalities, they have always managed to work out their differences. Their bond seemed unbreakable and the love they have for each was evident. However, with an exclusive sneak peek revealing that Vanessa and Colt have separated because of Debbie, fans are beginning to believe that their relationship may never be the same. In the end, viewers are hoping for the best for Debbie and Colt in their future endeavors on 90 Day Fiancé.
