Former 90 Day Fiancé star Deavan Clegg responded to questions about her and Jihoon Lee’s relationship after their son was diagnosed with cancer. Deavan was around 21 years of age when she met Jihoon, 28, on a dating app. Jihoon flew from South Korea to Utah to meet Deavan and after a passionate first date, she found out she was pregnant. Already a single mom to daughter Drascilla, Deavan had to impress Jihoon’s parents before she could marry him. On the show, Deavan failed to adjust to life in South Korea when she moved there, especially with Jihoon constantly lying to her about his job and savings.
When 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season 3 ended, Deavan returned home with her two kids. There were rumors about some “vile things” Jihoon had done to Deavan’s now six-year-old daughter, amidst which she filed for divorce which was finalized recently. With her new boyfriend Topher Park, Deavan is now expecting a new baby this fall. But while fans were celebrating the good news from Deavan, she also revealed her three-year-old son Taeyang was diagnosed with b-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Deavan and her family started a donation campaign and have almost reached their goal to assist with Taeyang’s treatment. But it seems no help has come from Deavan’s ex Jihoon who was quite the fan favorite when he starred in 90 Day Fiancé.
Because Jihoon has been missing from Instagram, there’s no way for fans to reach out to him. Someone, in turn, asked Deavan herself if Jihoon is aware of his baby’s illness. “Yes, we told him when we found out,” Deavan wrote in her Instagram story. Deavan claims Jihoon hasn’t reached out since, and neither has anyone from his family from the last two years. “We’ve done everything we could,” Deavan continued. With constant phone and video calls, she says they never “alienated anyone.” Deavan said that Jihoon chose not to be involved, and she doesn’t want to force him. According to Deavan, Jihoon spoke to her boyfriend Topher and said he wants to “live his single life.”
Moreover, Deavan confessed that Jihoon never showed up for the court dates, and he gave up his rights in the custody battle for Taeyang. “He hasn’t tried,” she spoke while mentioning that one can’t be forced to become a parent or grandparent. “There’s a lot you didn’t see on the show,” Deavan told her Instagram followers. She thinks people can be different on camera. But she does believe that “that side” has now shown its true colors. However, what’s important to Deavan right now is that her son has people who care about him in his life, and they are doing everything in their might to take care of Taeyang and “keep him alive.”
Earlier this year, Deavan shocked 90 Day Fiancé viewers by declaring that a whopping 96-percent of her storyline with Jihoon was fake. She said there was never a romantic connection between Deavan and Jihoon and that they stayed together for the show which had helped them pay their debts and bills. While some of their plot was real, Deavan and Jihoon had already ended their relationship long before it ended on 90 Day Fiancé. Deavan also reminded fans that it was pretty obvious that they didn’t like each other, which is something that she realized after watching the show again and looking at the signs. Things do look good for Deavan now, but her current pregnancy is “high risk.” Fans hope to see her welcoming a healthy baby while praying for Taeyang’s speedy recovery.
