During the 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days Tell-All, David explained why he believes he can only talk to his Ukrainian girlfriend Lana via a pay-to-chat dating site: according to him, it's got everything to do with the IMBRA Laws. Part 3 of the TLC Tell-All saw David defend his and Lana's relationship once again as he explained that they're not allowed to talk on other platforms such as Facebook.

Las Vegas residing David Murphey was one of the stand-out stars of 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days season 4. The 60-year-old left viewers hanging each week as he made many failed attempts to meet his online girlfriend, Lana. David made a total of five trips to Ukraine after meeting Lana on a pay-to-chat site seven years prior. Eventually, fans of the show were relieved to find out that Lana was indeed a real person. However, it wasn't all gravy from there. The couple is said to be currently engaged following David's proposal at the end of season 4, but the Tell-All made it very clear that David and Lana's relationship is far from conventional.

According to David, the pair still chat via the dating site he first met her on. This left viewers of the TLC show as well as his castmates absolutely flummoxed as it means that David will still be paying to speak to his now fiancé. David used the IMBRA (International Marriage Broker Regulation Act) laws as a reason for this during the Tell-All. Reddit user TheDogmotherPartTwo took a serious look at the IMBRA laws that are outlined on Lana's dating site of choice, Victoriya Club. David seems to think that he's acting in accordance with the site rules, however, TheDogmotherPartTwo said, "The agency clearly misstates the law to trick men into ONLY using their site to contact women on a cost per minute or message basis."

David Murphey 90 Day Fiance

As always, David was quick to jump to his relationship's defense and ended up threatening to leave during part two of the Tell-All due to Big Ed Brown's mocking. Host Shaun Robinson asked David if, now that he had bought Lana an iPhone, she had removed herself from the pay-to-chat dating site. David responded by saying that she didn't leave the site as she couldn't use the iPhone keyboard because of her nails. Peculiar excuses have come out of both Lana and David over the course of their communication. When David flew out to Kiev in season 4, Lana didn't show up to meet him on one occasion because she said she had to attend her nephew's hockey match. Even David's personal investigator made a point of saying that anyone who wanted to meet up wouldn't use that as an excuse.

During the 90 Day Fiancé Tell-All, Ed asked how David could have tortured himself for seven years but the 60-year-old didn't seem to phased at his relationship situation, he said, "I know she's not scamming me". Much to the shock of everyone on the show, David also added that over the years of traveling to Ukraine and using dating sites, he has spent around $300,000.

Many of David's 90 Day Fiancé castmates expressed sheer confusion over the fact that he's still paying to chat with Lana. Whether the couple will end up in a conventional relationship, viewers are yet to see. But, by the looks of the 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days Tell-All, David is keen to continue his storyline into another season. Tom Brooks stated during the show that Lana and David's relationship was the part that he "fast-forwarded", so who knows if there's much interest from TLC viewers to see any more of the couple.
