90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way star, Cory Rathgeber, who has moved to Equidor to be with his gilfriend Evelin Villegas, is reliving the tragedy of finding out about his father passing away while he was in Equidor. The reality TV star went to Instagram to commemorate his dad.
Corey and Evelin's relationship has been documeneted on the first season of this spin off, where the Americans go to foreign countries to be with their significant others. Corey introduced viewers to his family on the first episode of the season, when Corey told his parents that he would be moving indefinitly to Equador to be with Evelin. Fans watched as Corey sold his car, quit his job, and prepared to leave his family. Corey said goodbye to his parents in the airport, he obviously would be leaving the county but the idea that he would be back soon enough to visit.
In January of 2019, Corey's dad, Gary Rathgeber, passed away, although fans didn't realize that he had until just this week when they saw it on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way. Cory also waited to post about it on social media until it aired on TV. He posted via Instagram about his late-father, writing a long caption to a series of photos of Gary. The caption starts out with Cory expressing gratitude to the fans and followers of the show, who have sent him their condolences. Cory writes, "This is a hard moment to relive for me." He continues to write about how much his father impacted his life, saying, "You were the best dad I could ever ask for. You helped me, loved me, cared for me. You were my friend." He went on to write, "Nobody can replace your loving, happy and fun character." Check out the pictures and full caption below:
Cory then writes about how his father, Gary, was supposed to come and visit him in his new home in Ecuador, writing, "You were supposed to come visit me in Ecuador so we could fish and surf together." He continued to write about the plans that were never fufilled, "All the different foods you were supposed to try. I planned on building a place down there for you and mom." The 90 Day Fiancé star goes on to explain one of his father's sayings, "One thing he always said is 'if you don't shoot you won't score.' In remembrance of my dad I want everyone to take that shot and score whatever it may be!"
Even though fans only got to meet Cory's mother and father during the begining episodes of the premiere season of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, there were plenty of fans taken aback by how much they liked Cory's father - just from the few scenes they saw of him. Cory's followers were sending out their condolences and their sadness for the family. It's tragic now to watch the scene between Cory saying goodbye to his family and the airport, knowing the ending. RIP Gary.
