On 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, Corey Rathgeber was disappointed when his brother Matt revealed that his family wouldn't fly down to Ecuador from America to attend the wedding. Now, when Corey married Evelin, he won’t have any family members there, and his best friend Raul isn't getting an invitation, 90 Day Fiancé fans are feeling sorry for him, as they continue calling out Evelin for her evil ways. As it happens, Evelin hates going to the U.S. and she is trying to keep Corey away from his family. This may be because Corey’s folks never made Evelin feel welcome when she stayed with them.

With 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season 3 reaching its finale in two weeks, Corey and Evelin are all set to tie the knot a second time. Although Evelin is more interested in divorce than in being with Corey, who cheated on her with Jenny, she still seems to be making sure that she’s in control of the wedding. She asked Corey not to invite Raul, and Corey is already upset about his own family members refusing his invitations, for reasons unrelated to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Corey has expressed sadness about the total lack of support from his Mill A, Washington family. His mother Linda did want to attend the wedding, even though she doesn't like to travel. However, she wasn’t comfortable going to Ecuador alone, without Corey’s father Gary, who died in January 2019. Meanwhile, his brother Matt confirmed that his reason for not coming was Evelin.

As Corey tried to explain that his relationship with everyone has deteriorated, Matt assured him that they still love him, as they “obviously are family.” However, because Corey has been in Ecuador for three or four years, they aren't as close as they once were. Corey’s family is bitter about him leaving everything behind and spending his life savings on Evelin. Matt also observed that Evelin is the one making decisions on behalf of Corey, without taking his opinion into consideration. Although Matt does support Corey marrying Evelin on 90 Day Fiancé, he has “reservations” about it.

Back in the States, Corey was staying with his Mormon family on a compound. At the location were his parents, five siblings, grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Evelin was staying with Corey on a tourist visa for six months. His plan to get Evelin to America had backfired, as she commented that living there was “hard” due to her homesickness. Evelin claimed that life in Ecuador was better since “everyone is so friendly” and she expected Corey to be her provider there, although he'd already spent $40,000 on her. “I think Evelin has had a hard time connecting with my family and she mainly keeps to herself,” Corey admitted on 90 Day Fiancé.

It’s likely that Evelin’s reluctance to connect with Corey's family stemmed from the fact that she has never wanted to become a Mormon. “I’m hoping he gets out Mormonism completely,” she’d told the cameras. Evelin didn’t fit in and she didn’t want anything to do with the U.S or Corey’s home, which was surrounded by “Turkey and trees.” Evelin complained about his house being in the woods and how that made her feel trapped. She was allowed to work on her visa but chose to stay in the house all day while Corey was “bringing everything and providing everything.” Moreover, she also declared that she didn’t want Corey’s kids, and felt she was being judged by Corey’s family because she wasn’t willing to convert.

Meanwhile, Corey’s late father Gary had thought that his son was moving to Engabao for the three months that his visa allowed. However, once Corey left, he only returned after his dad passed away unexpectedly. It appears that Corey also kept his first wedding with Evelin a secret from his family. Also, Matt revealed that the last time he saw Corey was when Evelin stayed with them, and admitted they were not on great terms with her. “And she demanded that you go live in Ecuador with her … It sucks that she demanded that of you,” Matt told Corey. Eventually, he did admit that the reason why they won’t attend the 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way wedding is because they believe Evelin is keeping Corey away from the United States and their family.
