The two first met through an online dating website, and then Colt flew to Mexico to meet Larissa for the first time. The duo met again in Rio de Janeiro, after which the 36-year-old computer programmer Colt proposed to Brazilian bombshell Larissa. Sadly, things were not in their favor. The two married in June 2018 and then officially divorced in April 2019. Despite his crazy relationship with Larissa, Colt's close relationship with his mother Debbie Johnson kept him sane.
Colt Johnson opened up about his closeness with Debbie when he was in a troubled relationship with another Brazilian, Jess Caroline. Colt explained to the TLC producers that he lost his dad at a young age and said, "Losing a parent really affects you. Suddenly, you don't have that person you love anymore. You don't have their experience and wisdom. And there's a hole in your heart. You'll never get another father or another mother."
