Chelsea Macek and Yamir Castillo’s romance on 90 Day Fiancé was something straight out of a teen movie. Illinois resident Chelsea had met popstar Yamir in Nicaragua when she’d attended a concert featuring his boy band Myla Vox. She was in his home country volunteering with the Peace Corps. He noticed her, she noticed him, and the 90 Day Fiancé couple soon began their reality TV journey. Where are Chelsea and Yamir now, and what happened to Myla Vox?

In 2014, 90 Day Fiancé season 2 introduced Chelsea, a 25-year-old from Galesburg, Illinois, and Managua, Nicaragua’s Yamir, 28, to its audience. An event Chelsea landed at just out of curiosity (in the north of Nicaragua) featured the country’s first boy band Myla Vox performing. The band’s lead Yamir and Chelsea fell so deeply in love that they instantly got engaged. He ended up in America on a K-1 visa. Chelsea’s plan was for Yamir to come and stay with her parents, and the cultural shift from his “dangerous neighborhood” to her hometown worried her. However, Yamir’s concern was breaking up with his band and leaving his career behind for this new married life. Chelsea’s parents accepted him, supported them financially, and the 90 Day Fiancé couple tied the knot. However, Yamir realized that his wife’s town lacked opportunities. He sent a few demo tapes to producers in Chicago and got a surprisingly positive response. Yamir wished to move to the Windy City and Chelsea didn’t find herself on the same page, taking the 90 Day Fiancé romance to a dead end.

Radar reported that Chelsea filed for divorce from Yamir on November 30, 2016, and the dissolution hearing took place on December 9 of the same year. The couple’s 90 Day Fiancé co-star Jason Hitch was the one who broke the news and believed that it was the Myla Vox band member’s Chicago move that “could’ve strained the relationship.” Hitch added that he would have expected a truce that included Chelsea visiting him twice a month in Chicago. Instead, a joint statement by the couple explained, “I’m sorry, but we are not interested in giving details of our personal lives.” Shockingly, in an interview with ComingOutSessions, Chelsea revealed that she was queer. “I was married to a man [Yamir] and the relationship lasted a total of five years. It was during the marriage I just knew that something wasn’t right. It wasn’t him, and it was nothing that he had done, it was something inside of me,” confessed the 90 Day Fiancé alum.

Chelsea shared that it was her decision to get a divorce and that she’d separated from Yamir “for months” prior to that. She came out to her parents in April 2017, started a new career in handmade jewelry, and moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, with a girlfriend Erin. With her girlfriend, she started an Instagram account, Hike, Health, and Happiness. The account seems to have died out along with the relationship, and the 90 Day Fiancé star is now dating a new man, Daniel Colombo Verni. He is a helicopter mechanic in a long-distance relationship.

Chelsea also worked as a general manager at a medical marijuana dispensary in Colorado Springs for two years. Meanwhile, Yamir now has a Green Card and is a full-time musician in Chicago. In September 2017, the reality TV star posted a lengthy tribute to his ex-wife on Instagram that made fans wonder if they were getting back together. By March 2019, he’d announced he had found “a magical special woman.” The post is now missing from Yamir’s profile but the 90 Day Fiancé celeb is currently seen working on his physique and promoting his new song, "Tu y Yo".

This 90 Day Fiancé couple’s story ended as soon as it began, on a note that nobody would have expected. Chelsea’s coming out story made many TLC fans wonder if they were deceived. They wondered if she and Yamir were never in love but had planned to get him to America all along. But for the most part, both Chelsea and Yamir got their teen movie happy endings, albeit separately.
