The 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days season 5 Tell-All was filled with plenty of drama, but many viewers were shocked that the cast members backed Mike Berk over Ximena Morales Cuellar. The season 5 Tell-All featured all the couples aside from Alina Kozhevnikova and Caleb Greenwood, though Moknii Hamza was the only foreign partner to join the American cast members in the studio. While plenty of cast members were called out and some were defended, many 90 Day Fiancé franchise fans were angry that the Before the 90 Days cast took Mike’s side.
When season 5 first aired, many viewers were worried that naive New Yorker Mike was being taken advantage of by single mother Ximena. However, more information about their relationship soon painted a very different picture. It turns out that Mike met Ximena while she was working as a cam girl and offered to pay her bills if she quit her line of work. The couple established a mutually transactional relationship that saw Mike insisting on paying for Ximena’s life despite him agreeing to return his presents during their breakup when Ximena decided she didn't want to be in a relationship with Mike anymore. However, the Before the 90 Days Tell-All saw the cast slamming Ximena as a gold-digger and defending Mike for being taken advantage of.
While the Before the 90 Days cast sided with Mike, many viewers were furious to see how Ximena was treated. Reddit user iwillneverreadthiscr was one of many viewers who were angry over how Mike was coddled by the cast and network while Ximena was slammed. “TLC cuddles predators (Ed, Colt, Ben, etc, etc) and crucifies women who don't play the way ‘they're supposed to,’” the furious user wrote. Many commenters were stunned by how delusional the cast members were when they defended Mike. “He begged her to let him send her money!! She showed the calls!! How did none of the cast members see that?” one incredulous commenter asked. Other commenters brought up the fact that Mike asked Ximena to lie about how they met on a cam site to conceal that he had been trying to buy her affection and intimacy from the start.
Many viewers were disturbed by Mike’s behavior, which went completely excused at the Tell-All. “Oh no, no, noooo Mike was very scary with Ximena. Overall, Mike is walking away as one of the biggest villains to join the 90 Day Fiancé franchise. Before the 90 Days season 5 aired many poorly behaving cast members, but Mike and Ben Rathbun have particularly stood out for their terrible behavior. Both men have demonstrated their refusal to accept no for an answer as they continue to pursue women who have made it clear they do not want to be with them. Even though Mike was excused by his fellow cast members, 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days viewers are refusing to accept his behavior.
