Is 90 Day Fiancé real or scripted? A former cast member spills some reality TV tea. A season 2 alum of the show that started it all, Cassia Tavares had rocketed to fame alongside fiancé, and later ex-husband Jason Hitch in 2014. But now that Cassia has moved far away from the world of TV, she’s ready to share some shocking secrets about her 90 Day Fiancé experience. Including one where Cassia revealed that the only thing real about the reality show is its couples.

Cassia and Jason, came to be known for their unique relationship which started off when he met her on Facebook, while she was dating his friend online. The Spring Hill, FL native soon sparked a romance with Cassia, who hailed from Curitiba, Brazil, and hence, began their 90 Day Fiancé journey. Jason, 38, an army veteran lived a frugal life and managed to get Cassia, 23, to America on a K-1 visa in spite of facing a financial crunch. The 90 Day Fiancé pair had their fair share of issues but married anyway and started their own mail-order snack business called Gifting Fun, unsuccessfully. After hitting a rough patch in 2017, the couple got back together in a few months only for Cassia to later get Jason arrested in 2018 for domestic violence. They filed for divorce, withdrew it, and filed it again, to finally end their 90 Day Fiancé romance mutually in October 2018. Cassia, who’s now a graduate from the University of South Florida is living a lovely life with an Italian boyfriend. With her 90 Day Fiancé life in the past, she’s decided to revisit it and reveal her experience while filming the hit TLC series.

When asked if 90 Day Fiancé has any staged or scripted scenes, Cassia spoke about what’s real and what’s not according to her, reports Soap Dirt. The Brazilian celeb confessed that the couples on the TLC show are “100% real” but many other aspects aren’t. Cassia added that the show isn’t scripted but the network does decide to “produce” it. This involves “creating scenarios to maximize drama between the couples,” said Cassia as per the story. Smart editing helps most reality TV shows add spice to their storylines, and Cassia states that her time filming with Jason had a fair bit of it as well. A scene where Cassia tells Jason that she wouldn’t be meeting him at the airport had created a buzz. But the 90 Day Fiancé star claims she’d said, “she wouldn’t be at the airport if there were TLC cameras there.” This wasn’t scripted but certainly “edited very well” to add some zing to the couple’s narrative on the show.

Then there was a scene that involved Cassia taking a pregnancy test. Cassia revealed that it happened after she’d posted about not feeling well online, and a fan had asked her if she was pregnant. However, the 90 Day Fiancé producers apparently “had her take a pregnancy test on-camera” even though it was known by all that she wasn’t. Cassia also thinks that the editing made her “look like someone she isn’t.” Her thoughts were earlier echoed by Avery Warner who’d claimed that 90 Day Fiancé shows only 5% of the real story.

With the levels of drama always running high on the show, it’s obvious for fans to ask if their favorite scenes from 90 Day Fiancé are scripted or fake. Social media also plays a part where fans end up getting an up close and personal view into the couples’ lives, along with spoilers at times, despite strong contracts. Former stars like Cassia revealing secrets might leave most 90 Day Fiancé fans feeling a bit frauded. But then, again, what’s life without a little bit of drama on the side?
