90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days fans have been blasting newcomer Caleb Greenwood online, and the American fitness-enthusiast just revealed one of his very first hate messages. Caleb has earned a rapidly bad rep among 90 Day Fiancé fans as many have accused him of being a faux-spiritualist who is not ready to meet the needs of his disabled Russian partner Alina Kozhevnikova. Although Caleb has been receiving steady criticism, some Before The 90 Days fans are beginning to believe that Caleb isn't as bad as viewers think- while Alina could be just as flawed.
Caleb and Alina met online thirteen years ago and reconnected recently through a dating app. The American and Russian duo arranged to meet for the first time in person in Turkey, which led to Caleb realizing that Alina's diastrophic dysplasia meant that she was even shorter than he initially thought. Caleb was taken aback by Alina's size and admitted to the cameras that he wasn't sure about his sexual attraction to her. Alina was very upset that Caleb didn't want immediate intimacy and got her friend Elijah to grill Caleb over his lack of physical contact. At the same time, Caleb has been called out for making insensitive remarks and suggestions about Alina's abilities, such as not booking a hotel with wheelchair access and offering to carry the 27-year-old woman in a backpack.
Caleb took to his public Instagram account, @caleb90day, to share a TikTok of him reacting to a negative message that called him “absolutely disgusting to watch” and asked him to “disappear for awhile so people forget.” Caleb captioned the post, “if you’re going to do hate mail, at least make it make sense 😂.” He said in the video that he did the "good old Christian thing" by turning the other cheek, though the critic called out Caleb again for not treating Alina correctly. While Caleb appeared to not take the criticism to heart, many viewers have been calling out the American man. However, Caleb also had a number of supporters in his comments who don't find him to be a villain.
"Wtf are they talking about u were disgusting ?? I didn’t see that," one commenter wrote to Caleb. Other supporters pointed out how Caleb was exhausted after his trip and shouldn't have felt any pressure to be intimate with Alina. Even though many 90 Day Fiancé fans dislike Caleb, even his critics seem to agree that Alina was out of line for demanding immediately physical contact when Caleb needed to rest. "Bro I don’t think you’re a bad person but she did walk up those hotel stairs by herself," another commenter wrote. Many of Caleb's comments pointed out that audiences were being far too judgmental of Caleb when he was new to navigating dating a disabled person and was also extremely exhausted.
Though few viewers have been on Caleb's side, some 90 Day Fiancé fans have pointed out that he is receiving a disproportionate amount of hate. While Alina was originally hailed as a fan-favorite cast member, she is quickly beginning to be regarded in the same light as Caleb. Viewers have been slamming the Russian singer for demanding immediate physical contact and complaining about Caleb's reticence when it came to immediate intimacy. Many viewers believe that had the roles been reversed, a man would have been highly criticized for being so sexually demanding. Furthermore, Alina was extremely ungrateful when Caleb gifted her a recycled necklace. New episodes of 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days will reveal if Caleb and Alina are romantically compatible- something that many viewers don't think they are.
