Fans mistook 90 Day Fiancé star Brandon Gibbs’ father Ron to be him after a throwback photo of the senior Pillow Talk star surfaced online. 29-year-old Brandon and Julia Trubkina had connected thanks to his friend and later met for the first time in South Korea. The couple soon got engaged and Julia, also 29, moved to America on a K-1 visa. The biggest problems in Brandon and Julia’s relationship were created by his parents Ron and Betty Gibbs, who they had to live with on their Dinwiddie farm. Julia finally got a chance to move out to a small Richmond apartment, but fans found out about Ron’s health condition which left them concerned.
Brandon’s parents have revealed they want the couple to return to the farm, as Ron’s health had begun to deteriorate. While Brandon and his parents never revealed what Ron’s diagnosis was at first, the Virginia lad later shared major details with 90 Day Fiancé viewers. As per him, back in 2020, the doctors discovered a tumor during a colonoscopy session. However, it was surgically removed, after which Ron went through chemo and radiation within 60 days. The treatment worked and the 90 Day Fiancé star’s dad became free of cancer and now seems to be doing well, even though Brandon and Julia don’t stay on the farm.
While Ron and Betty were ridiculed for being helicopter parents during their time on 90 Day Fiancé and 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?, fans now think of them differently. The couple is a favorite amongst Pillow Talk viewers who continue to praise Brandon’s mom and dad for their humor. But this time around, Ron is in the news for an old photo of his that was shared by Reddit user u/ONJetsFan. The TLC viewer wrote that they always thought Brandon was a mix of both his parents. But seeing the photo of 90 Day Fiancé cast member Ron from his younger days made them change their mind.

However, fans also think that Brandon looks a lot like his mom and that they feel Ron and Betty could be “siblings.” Some fans were shocked since they thought Brandon was a spitting image of his mom. Meanwhile, one fan joked that the photograph explains why Brandon’s mom was “creepily obsessed” with him on 90 Day Fiancé. It’s not just Pillow Talk on which Ron and Betty have been cast by TLC in recent times. They make regular appearances on 90 Day Diaries as well, since the current season is following Brandon and Julia’s latest move to Virginia Beach.
With Brandon not ready to take over the family farm, Ron has considered promoting a few of their livestock to downsize the farm in Virginia. The couple once had a dream of shopping for an RV and to go see the sights and sounds of the U.S. Although Betty is disappointed at saying goodbye to her animals, Ron feels a change could be thrilling for them. With Ron and Betty’s storyline getting more interesting than their son’s, it won't be surprising if his doppelgangers end up getting their own Happily Ever After? segment, now that 90 Day Fiancé star Julia claims to have been “cut” from the season.
