90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days fans are calling out Big Ed on his "white saviorism" complex towards Rosemarie. "White saviorism" describing Americans or other Westerners going to third world countries to "help," which it turn makes the giver feel better but doesn't actually provide any aid to the person or community they claim to serve.
Throughout the season, Big Ed has grown creepier and creepier by the episode. The San Diego native started out as a funny and honest but quickly turned into a boyfriend from hell. He has shown himself to be ungrateful as he's constantly complained about Rosemarie’s living conditions in the Philipines and has forced American beauty standards on the Philipino woman. Fans were outraged that Big Ed felt it was okay to barge into a woman’s life and try to control her just because he had the upper hand of being American and having more money than she does.
During Sunday’s all-new episode of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, Ed decided to come clean about not wanting children with Rose during what was supposed to be a romantic dinner. Fans have grown tired of Big Ed’s lies and are noticing that he likely has a "white savior" complex when it comes to his girlfriend. A Reddit thread described "white saviorism" as when Westerners go to impoverished countries "to feed orphans or paint school houses [or] stuff that really just makes them feel good about themselves but provides no value, and actually may harm, the communities they claim to serve." Many fans are making the connections between Big Ed and how he treats Rosemarie on a daily basis such as showering her with gifts he selfishly wants to give her, such as a razor, toothbrush, toothpaste, and lingerie in an attempt to mold her in what he believes a perfect American woman should look like. The fan who goes by user @vintage_valour wrote: "I saw so many parallels with the way Ed treated Rose. Assuming that because she’s poor she’ll just be grateful for everything he gives her and never complain. Giving her mouth wash, telling her to shave, demanding std tests and basically treating her subhuman."
It does look as if Rosemarie has caught on to the way he acted towards her as when she finally had enough of his shaming and told him she was done. Big Ed’s face was appalled and shocked as he told the cameras she had never acted like that. Almost pulling back the curtain that Rosemarie is just like any other woman and eventually, she will grow tired of the control and abuse. Big Ed was clearly taken aback that his "mail-order bride" wasn't just going to go with every one of his whims and has her own set of opinions and desires in life. Either way, many believe that the couple has split as Rosemarie has already taken to Instagram to bash Big Ed about how he was a liar and that he constantly backed out of his promises.
