Recently, Ben Rathbun revealed some secrets about his 90 Day Fiancé relationship with Mahogany Roca and his mysterious drooping eye on Instagram. The 52-year-old Ben has yet to meet 24-year-old Mahogany, his future wife, face to face. After leaving his church and wife behind, Ben took a chance at love when he crossed paths with Mahogany, who shares his faith and love for God. But the sweet Mahogany is giving Ben a sour experience ever since he landed in Peru by ghosting him even after he arrived in her San Bartolo town.
But instead of realizing that his “runaway train” had already left the station, Ben is adamant about meeting Mahogany, who looks more and more like a catfish as each week of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days passes. Given Mahogany’s ultra fake and filtered photos, Ben’s friends and even teenage kids could tell that she is not real. Former pastor Ben has never even met Mahogany in the virtual world as she has been too shy to talk on video calls in their three months of dating. There are high chances of Mahogany being a scammer who’s not even in Peru.
But Ben is persistent because, according to him, “When it’s love, it risks looking foolish. It ‘believes all things.’ It is blind.” During his Q&A session on Instagram, Ben insisted that 90 Day Fiancé is not scripted and is “very real,” and added that he “wasn’t even looking. No dating apps. This just happened, and God gave me peace about it,” when he met Mahogany. Ben thought it was a good idea to share his journey with Mahogany on reality TV since he thought it was “an amazing love story” about overcoming “language barrier, distance, age.” While Ben didn’t answer the question, “Was Mahogany real?”--he asked the TLC viewer to follow his journey--Ben did reveal which one is his good eye. “The other one I love too much to change. It’s our differences that make us unique,” Ben confessed.
Ben said that at the end of the day, he has “no regrets” about his relationship with Mahogany. “But people will argue vociferously with you that the age gap is socially unacceptable in our culture,” he told a follower. “I must follow my heart,” exclaimed Ben without revealing if the search led him to the real Mahogany that fans found on Instagram. The inspiration for Ben’s “runaway train” story came to him while he was working out and frustrated about not getting to communicate with Mahogany. “I was trying to find a way to tell her my heart,” said Ben, who believed he was too far along to give up, so he just enjoyed “the process.” While Ben is blamed for dating Mahogany, who’s about the same age as his eldest child, he mentioned that he has dated older women in the past. “Every age is beautiful,” he declared.
Fans have reason to believe that Ben and Mahogany aren’t together as he tries to treat his experience like a lesson. But Ben surely recommends a Peru trip to 90 Day Fiancé fans as it has beautiful scenery, great food and amazing waves. However, Ben also let it slip that he’s not single anymore because his heart belongs to someone else.
